Toastmater toaster can't be trusted

The very first toaster my husband and I ever had was a small 2 slice toaster that we received for a wedding gift. We used that toaster for about 12 years.
Our family was growing bigger so we decided it was time to get a new bigger toaster. Our other toaster still worked but we threw it out when we bought the Toastmaster T2040 Dual control 4-slice toaster.

I thought it was so cool when we first bought this toaster because we could make 4 slices of toast at once. It really helped speed up the process of making toast for my family of 8.
It toasted to the desired darkness fairly well. (My old one was was having problems with that.) I was happy with it for the first couple of months that we had it.
Just a couple of months later the right side wouldn't work unless you held it down the entire toasting time. That became a big inconvenience. A few months later it quit working altogether on that side. Our 4 slice toaster turned into a big 2 slice toaster. 
We were right where we first started!
We got used to the annoyance of only half of it working when just about a year later the side that does work only works if you hold it down the entire time it's toasting. What a hassle! It definately is not easy making toast for my family now. I dread it when all my kids want toast at the same time because I can't get anything else done while I'm making toast because it only cooks 2 slices while I have to waste time holding it down.
It's now time to buy a new toaster!
I do like the big slots for bigger slices of bread and bagels. The dual controls is also a handy little feature that is nice to have but it doesn't do me much good if it doesn't work.
