Product Review

Wet popcorn, anyone?

by   lupitylulu ,   Jan 16, 2008

Pros:  none

Cons:  wet, tough, smelly popcorn

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Author's Review

I love popcorn and remember the old fashioned stove-top popcorn tasting better than microwave or air-popped corn. But you had to shake the pot continuously and quite often you would get that burnt popcorn bottom - so hard to clean.
So I bought this one, thinking looked like a great option. But I tried it several times and every time the dome would steam up with water and the popcorn would get soggy with moisture. It tasted terrible, like overheated oil, and was unpleasantly tough. I even tried leaving the lid off until the popcorn started to pop but that didn't help get rid of the condensation. Maybe if I drenched it in butter I wouldn't have noticed the sogginess but I like to just use a small amount of butter. I tried using various oils - vegetable, olive and even some Fireworks popcorn oil. I finally threw it away in frustration.
