Willis: a comedy of manners and pet preferences

Date of Review:  Jul 30, 2000
Review: The frighteningly rich and appallingly mannered Lady Schrapnell has invaded Oxford University's time travel research project, promising to endow it if they help her rebuild Coventry Cathedral, which was destroyed during an air raid in World War II...

Is anything trivial? A comedy on the connectedness of things

Date of Review:  Oct 15, 2001
The Bottom Line: Read this book if you want to laugh, be entertained, educated and have an adventure all at the same time.
Review: Hugo award winner, “To say nothing of the dog” is an eclectic wonder…part Historical romance, part mystery. Winding around ideas which are pure science fiction, Connie Willis spins an hilarious yarn. No-one could pigeon-hole this book as anything...

Love in the Space-Time Continuum: To Say Nothing of the Dog

Date of Review:  Aug 4, 2001
The Bottom Line: Worth reading!
Review: Connie Willis is quite the writer, this is certain. Recently, I devoured her excellent new book, Passages. Finding it quite tasty, I moved on to another course, To Say Nothing of the Dog. I was a little leery, because as a rule of thumb I am not a...

To Say Nothing of the Science Fiction

Date of Review:  Oct 23, 2001
The Bottom Line: This book tries too hard to be all things to all people and fails. Don't expect brilliant science fiction but rather a screwball comedy and you'll still enjoy it.
Review: I've been hearing the name Connie Willis for quite some time. I freely admit I am a geek with a geek's love for science fiction. I hang out with other geeks who share that love and we sometimes talk about our favorite books, stories, and authors...

What time is it?

Date of Review:  Dec 18, 2002
The Bottom Line: Who can turn down a time travel romp? Definitely a book worth reading, and it's making me go find some more Willis to read.
Review: To Say Nothing of the Dog, by Connie Willis, is a Victorian time travel romp with some touching moments as well. This is my first Willis, and it's very different from what I've been led to expect from her. That's why it took me a little time to...

A delightful, comic time travel extravaganza

Date of Review:  Jan 14, 2000
Review: It's definitely a love-hate thing I have with Connie Willis. The inimitable style of this Queen of the Non Sequiturs is vividly on display in To Say Nothing of the Dog, a Hugo Award-winning time travel saga brimming with seemingly random...

I Love This Woman

Date of Review:  Jul 24, 2000
The Bottom Line: This is one of the best books you will ever read. Hands down.
Review: I want to be Connie Willis when I grow up!

Two days ago I would have said I've never ready anything by Connie Willis that wasn't blindingly brilliant. Right now I'm in the middle of Remake so I might have to revise that opinion. Check back...

Fun and Games - the Victorian Way

Date of Review:  Aug 7, 2001
The Bottom Line: This book is an interesting change from the typical science fiction novel. It is a terrific mix of genres that is different from anything that I have ever read.
Review: To Say Nothing of The Dog by Connie Willis is one of the most unusual science-fiction books I have read in a while. It is a great combination of a old-time mystery novel and a time travel science fiction adventure. It is truly a fun book to read,...

What dog?

Date of Review:  Apr 25, 2001
The Bottom Line: A truly individual book written in Willis` very individual style.
Review: "To say nothing of the dog" was the sub-title for Jerome K.Jeromes novel "Three Men in a Boat" and lo and behold the dog ,Montmorency and the three men make cameo appearances in Willis` novel of screwball comedy,time-travel and Victorian ideals...

Great fun, but not everyone's cup of tea

Date of Review:  Sep 9, 1999
Review: Until I read "To Say Nothing of the Dog" , I wouldn't have thought it possible
for anyone to write a really good humorous science fiction mystery novel.
Certainly not one where the reader keeps tripping over allusions to several famous
