Author's Review
This is my first Tivioli product, but am I impressed. Previously, I was only familiar with Bose in providing high-end sound quality in a small form factor. Okay, I may not be the hard-core audio afficionado, but I do appreciate solid levels of quality.
The Songbook puts out impressive sound quality. I really like the feature of being able to use rechargeable NIMH/NICAD batteries and it's built-in charger...that is cool. I would highly reconmmend using a high quality, late generation rechargeable battery, (requires 6), it will save you 000's of batteries and they have a much longer run-time than alkaline's. I haven't had to recharge them once since I bought this about a month ago and using the radio about 20-30 minutes per day. In fact, not even one of the power indicators have dropped during this time.
The rubber coating is very nice and so is the size. While Tivoli calls this a portable radio, I have a hard time really thinking that it's portable in the same way that a tiny sony walkman am/fm radio is. Those i can stick in a shirt pocket, but the Songbook is more like a standard sized bible.
All in all, a very impressive audio product.
