Not a very good product

I got this shaver for Father's Day 2004 and have had it for over a year now. This is my second attempt at a self-cleaning shaver. I had a Braun self-cleaning shaver before (which wasn't too hot either).
I have sent this unit back to Remington and they sent me a new one because after about 8 months the inside of the unit started to rust. It doesn't clean too well and the shavings often get clogged in the base unit. I have a heavy beard and like a close shave and this unit will not give a close shave. I am very loyal in keeping my screens and razors replaced and use the cleaner every day. I wouldn't mind the expense of the solution if it worked better. I think there may be too much oil in the cleaning solution because it starts to clog up in between the razor heads and they have to be cleaned with a brush. I must say that Remington has been very good with their customer service and replacements, but this product is definitely in it's infancy and could use a lot of tweaking. I love the idea of a self-cleaning shaver and hope somebody comes up with a decent one someday, in the meantime there are not many choices. One other thing, this unit is VERY loud during the clean cycle. It's like having a chainsaw in your bathroom. This shaver is better than the Braun that I had before but don't expect miracles.
