Author's Review
CeCe Winans can make any projected set of notes sound like angels in chorus from the heavens. Her voice is warm and inviting; decorated with greatness. She sings with humble reverence and lets her voice ring in celebration of the Gospel. Her voice carries tunes with a refreshing sound that can illuminate the gray skies with a rainbow bath of colors.
I liked CeCe from when she was singing on duet albums with her brother BeBe. She always allowed me room to feel comfortable as I listened and was lead on a journey to stronger faith. It was her shouts of joy then that really made my heart know that I could rest assured and trust the fact that she would always create a peaceful oasis when sharing her anointing to declare his name among the nations. And she does a great job at doing it.
I was so happy when I heard that CeCe Winans was going to be in concert and knew it was a concert that was calling my name. Through the stormy weather that last Friday brought to New York, I saw CeCe live at The Greater Allen Cathedral and was thrilled at the awesome momentum. Her delivery was sweet and had an effect on the masses. Her music always has livelihood in it whether it be fast or slow and I always find a reason to want to just say thank you when I listen because she sings lyrics of a poetic nature that can not only stand the test of time, but that can earth a new day of hope in your life.
So impressed with the vibrations that I got as she sang songs off her new album Thy Kingdom Come, I decided it was only right for me to pick it up and travel across the bridge to Gods love from home. Today I listened to it for the first time and I really enjoyed how each of the 14 pieces featured on the album all left the heart with joy. Her voice is so beautiful. And when matched up to great background singers and lively musical accompaniment, you get a really good package from beginning to end.
CeCe Winans just seems so humble. She sings and directs and does a great job of letting the emotion spill out over the tunes like a cup of overflowing love. I could feel that the words really mean something to her because she clearly projects, articulates and emotionally renders them. I love the vocal arrangements and all the harmony. The songs were so full of light and color and never seemed as if they were missing something.
Thy Kingdom Come is an album of climbing higher mountains and planting feet on higher ground. It is an album featuring songs of thanksgiving and songs of reflection. It is an album that features piano ballads of love and easy to remember lyrics. It is an album that features the sweet sounding timbre of CeCe Winans voice reverberating in holy boldness about the greatest love of all. She always articulates her voice and makes it easy for the listener to easily decipher the inspirational messages that she is preaching about. And in all the songs was a wealth of monumental instrumentation with a glossy finish.
The following songs makes up the praise festival lead by CeCe Winans.
We Welcome You (Holy Father)
Forever
Thy Will Be Done
Worthy
It Aint Over
Waging War
The Test Of Time
Ill Live For You
Bless his Holy Name
Oh Holy Place
Youre The One
The Coast is Clear
Falling In Love
Million Miles
And it is in all the songs that I found comfort in the peaceful sounds. What made this album different was that the sound changed up from track to track. Yet all the songs were positioned well and flowed as free as an eagle. You might get a taste of Classical or Jazz in one song and then in another one, you might hear a tinge of Soft Rock, R&B, Pop or even Country and I loved that.
CeCe Winans is very diverse and any song that she chooses to interpret, she makes it sound good. And with every shout of joy to the Lord, the sound is clearly projected without shackles. She can make you dance or sing along. She can draw listeners closer to the love of God. And as I witnessed her invite all into a different way of thinking, it was amazing to see how many people she was able to get to say yes to his will and enter in. I love her humility and I really appreciate the way that she uses her talents. Her voice just keeps on getting better and better and the love story with Jesus just keeps on getting thicker and thicker. I really love the album Thy Kingdom Come and recommend it to all who are interested in hearing good, quality music that carries with it, a cargo of good messages. This is a great album.
