The "King" returns
Date of Review: Mar 14, 2008
The Bottom Line: Thriller 25 is a great album and I would recommend it to anyone who like eighties music, hip-hop, pop, rap, or just Michael Jackson in general.
Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop", makes his long awaited return to the music industry with the re-release of "The World's Biggest Selling of All Time", Thriller 25. The familiar tunes that made us tap our toes and wear the jackets and gloves in the eighties are back, not to mention some re-made tracks and a special unreleased track from the original Thriller recording sessions, "For All Time", and tracks recorded for the momentous occasion.
Track number one is the energetic "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" from the original Thriller album. This track makes me feel like doing anything I set my mind to. Track number two is the nostalgic love ballad "Baby Be Mine", it is sure to set the mood for a lust filled night with that special someone. Track number three puts two of the greatest artists of all time together on one track when Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney battle it out for the one the love with the familiar words "The Girl is Mine". Track number four is sure to bring back some memories of Halloween night, clothing styles of the eighties, and even those fimiliar dance moves deep down within you with "Thriller", the albums namesake song. Track number five will definitely please your eardrums, as MJ always does, with "Beat It". You will remember the music video and song for track number six, "Billie Jean", which for many fans is their favorite. Yet another love ballad, which seems to be this smooth-talking artist's specialty, with "Human Nature" as track number seven. Not only is it a great song but it is a personal favorite as well. You will want to listen to the classic "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" over and over again. At track number eight "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)" is definitely one for the repeat button on your iPod or C.D. player. Michael will "make you feel alright" with "The Lady In My Life" as track number nine begins and ends the the "smoothness" and grace of his soft voice. Track number ten is a look into the studio with the master of horror himself as the "Vincent Price Excerpt" of Thriller brings us back to our childhood nightmares.
If all that wasn't enough to get you to get in the car and head to your local retailer, hold on to your butts because it's time for the "Previously Unreleased Tracks" made just for Thriller 25.
In track number eleven The Black Eyed Peas' will.i.am takes the place of Paul McCartney in the release of "The Girl Is Mine 2008", a great re-make of the original. Track number twelve also features will.i.am with "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) 2008", sounds nothing like the original. With all new lyrics and beats, "P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing) 2008" is definitely not a re-make, but a whole new song. Track number thirteen features Akon in "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' 2008", it sounds a little like the original, but it features Akon, a new begining, and new beat. Fergie does a pretty good job at sounding like Michael in "Beat It 2008" as track number fourteen. "Billie Jean 2008" is a speaker booming remix with Kanye West on the beats. In this track Kanye stands clear of Michael's singing and controls the toe-tapping beats. And finally for the unreleased track from the original Thriller sessions called "For All Time". "For All Time" is a great track and makes me wonder if they saved it just for this album, and since it is unreleased you can trick him or her into thinking that Michael recorded a track just for you guys.
At about $16.00 an album, Thriller 25 wraps up to be an over all flawless album. With the original Thriller as the biggest selling album of all time, it would not surprise me to hear that Thriller 25 draws a close second.
