Greatest action game of our time(Patch Update: v1.18)

by   skyth ,  Apr 23, 2000
Pros: Game play, level design, voice acting, superior sound quality
Cons: Foogly char models
Review: If you are at all familiar with my writing style, you will know that I won't make such bold statements without the intention of proving them to the tiniest detail. So let me try to explain you why I think thief offers the best of single player...

Thief 2 will steal all of your time, but you won't mind one bit.

by   grimjack2 ,  May 14, 2001
Pros: Storyline, AI, Setting, Weapons, Originality, but most of all, the Gameplay.
Cons: Company went under one game later, so there won't be a Thief 3.
The Bottom Line: If you loved the first one, or just want a 1st person shooter that is a little different, this is a must have!
Review: I know this game is almost a year old, but having just played and finished it in the last two weeks, I thought it was so good that I would have to write about it.

After having so many 1st person shooters with endless killing, who would have...

Thief II: At It Again With Metal

by   Dbbum ,  May 8, 2001
Pros: Good graphics & sounds, detailed plot, excellent in game play
Cons: some unrealistic movements, to dark on some video cards
The Bottom Line: Even better that Thief: The Dark Project! Good for mellow modes of first person action
Review: In the genre of first person shooters, what game comes to mind? Most people think of HalfLife, Quake, Unreal Tournament, etc. One game left untouched is Thief II: The Metal Age.

If you have played Thief I: The Dark...

An absorbing game

by   doreiwolf ,  May 26, 2001
Pros: Good atmosphere; detailed, challenging levels; many hours of gameplay
Cons: Slightly weak control method.
The Bottom Line: If you like a first person perspective game which requires thought rather than brute force, this is the perfect game to buy.
Review: Thief was a game that defined an offshoot genre from the First Person Shooter, and it was quickly dubbed a First Person Sneaker. The challenge of getting through a level without being seen and, in many cases, without killing anyone, offered a new and...

Thank god they improved on the first one!!

by   darksmiley ,  Oct 22, 2002
Pros: Fantastic new levels Truly innovative features
Cons: Maybe too slow for some
The Bottom Line: Thief II is a fantastic example of a game surpassing its predecessor in every feasible way. Innovative, entertaining and highly atmospheric.
Review: The original Thief was a game fraught with imperfections and truly irritating elements, despite exhibiting a diverse range of new and original features. The game showed more potential than any traditional FPS, introducing an entirely new approach to the...

i'll find you!

by   genogt69 ,  Aug 9, 2000
Pros: wonderful graphics and game elements
Cons: none that I can think of
Review: Graphics:

The graphics in this game are quiet impressive. The game uses what is called a dark engine because the game is based on stealth. What dark engine means is the game is essentially dark. The darker the area the harder you are to seen...

Why I liked Thief II

by   mrwumpus ,  Nov 20, 2000
Pros: Gameplay, plot, atmosphere
Cons: Takes time,Graphics can be clunky
Review: Here's why I liked Thief II:

- The plot caught me and never let me go. It inspired me to play my best on every level. Furthermore, the short video cut scenes and narration add to the overall brooding atmosphere of the game. There are several...

To Be (a thief) Or Not To Be (a thief)...

by   mholly96 ,  Feb 19, 2003
Pros: Enticing plots, lots of action with minimal violence!
Cons: Requires massive amounts of patience at times!
The Bottom Line: Buy it to challenge your mind and skills. It could even be recommended for younger children!
Review: As an avid lover of games that make one think (instead of the regular shooting games), Thief II far surpassed the first in the series. It takes more cunning, strategy and planning than most other games, and I loved the challenge!!

More than just a "Shooter" Game

by   RBradford ,  Jul 14, 2000
Pros: Excellent Sequel to Thief, Awesome Graphics, Cool Gameplay
Cons: Don't Get it if You Just Want to Shoot Everything in Sight
Review: Thief II is one of those rare jewels in a sea of mediocre first-person shooters. I have to admit, I've played many of the variations of "Wolfenstein 3-D" produced over the years. Doom, Quake, Hexen, Unreal, Blood, Rise of the Triad, Duke Nukem,...
