My Favorite Book to Re-Read

I love this book. My mother's best friend gave it to me as a gift, knowing I have a reading style much like Garp's own. I like to reread a book over and over again until I practically have it memorized.
I've reread Garp about fifty times, and I still can't remember all of it. So many things happen, and told in a light, lyrical style, it's hard to realize that sometimes horrible, awful things happen to these characters. It makes light of life.
Some people may say that this book is about the bad ends that come to people who lust. Indeed, every case of inappropriate, illegitimate lust, comes to some bad end. Some may say it's just a quirky story with a few far-fetched happenings.
I have to disagree with both opinions. It's really about the Under-Toad. It's a book about the fear a man has for the people he loves. It's a book that makes light of life's tragedies, which is sometimes the only way to get over them.
If you like to reread books, this book is good for a second, even a third read right away. There are so many details that you can't catch unless you're already famillar with the plot line. If you don't like to reread books, this book gives pleasure after just one reading. It's a book with something for everybody--except the conservative.
This book takes sex in a manner which may make some people shudder. Lust, lust, and More Lust. It's a problem that Garp frequently encounters--but so do you and I. My personal suspicion is that it may make some people shudder.
There is also a character, one Robert(a) Muldoon, who has gone through a sex-reassignment. Parts of the novel deal with her troubles of being a man-turned woman.
All in all, it is a creative masterpiece, one which exploits the silly things in life which make even the most horrible tragedies laughable, and thus, makes life bearable.
