Author's Review

Most people can't stand politics. They find it chalk full of back and forth mud slinging that in the end gets us nowhere. They don't care about who's in charge because to them their all the same. Well for those partial right though cynical people there is one politician we all can get behind. His name is Josiah Bartlet and on the television series "The West Wing" he's The President of The United States of America. You might think "The West Wing" is just for those who follow and love politics but your wrong. Its for anyone who loves America and wishes at the end of the day that partisanship would move over so that real progress could get done. Martin Sheen plays the sometimes arrogant and intellect President Bartlet. Sheen in one of the best roles of his life plays the President with so much wit and genuine love for country you'll quickly wish that President Bartlet were real. But as good as he is this isn't a series thats main focus is on the President. This show is truly about the people who work for him.

Leo McGarry is his Chief of Staff/best friend who helped get the President elected. McGarry is a former soldier with a past drinking problem. He has his demons but his loyalty to the President could never be questioned. He's the kind of guy a person would need to have on their side to get to the White House.

Josh Lyman is the Deputy Chief of Staff. Josh is a gifted political mind who worked tirelessly to get the President elected. But unfortuantly for Josh sometimes his mouth, actually thee inability to control his mouth get him into hot water. He's not yet ready to be Leo but the President couldn't get by without him. The trouble that Josh finds for himself is worth watching this by itself.

Toby Ziegler is The White House Communication Director and also one of the main speech writers for the president. Toby is an uptight, angry in your face man who has a knack for driving President Bartlet crazy. With that said he to is a key member of the President's inter circle.

Sam Seaborn is Deputy Communication Director. Sam left his job at a powerful law office to help get the President elected. He was asked to come on board by his friend Josh. In some ways Sam is like Josh in that he to can find himself in trouble.

C.J. Cregg is The White House Press Secretary. As the voice box for the President she is probably the second most viable person in the Bartlet Administration. C.J. is never afraid to be the powerful woman in what is deemed a man's world. She will glady go toe to toe with anyone.

These are the main inter circle but there's so many good characters that make "The West Wing" so great. From Donna Moss to Charlie Young to the lighting rod that is the President's wife Abbey Bartlet. All of these people work hard to make sure their boss is happy. And thats really what "The West Wing" is all about. This show isn't about the man. Is about the people who would rather die then disappoint the man.

Bartlet : Two politicians are having an argument. One of them stands up and says, "You're lying!" The other one answers, "Yes, I am, but hear me out."

Toby: You think the United States is under attack from 12,000 Cubans in rowboats.
Sam: I'm not saying I don't like our chances.
Toby: Mind-boggling to me that we ever won an election.

Bartlett : You have a best friend?
Roger : Yes sir.
Bartlett : Is he smarter than you?
Roger : Yes sir.
Bartlett : Would you trust him with your life?
Roger : Yes sir.
Bartlett : That’s your chief of staff.

Bartlett: What happened to the guy who shot your mother?
Charlie: They haven't found him yet sir.
Bartlett: If they did, would you wanna see him executed? Killing a police officer's a capital crime. I figured you musta thought about it.
Charlie: Yes sir.
Bartlett : And?
Charlie: I wouldn't want to see him executed, Mr. President. I'd wanna do it myself.
