Author's Review
It may be a little weird for a guy to be writing about love songs, but The Very Best of Sheryl Crow reminds me too much of my ex-girlfriend. She was the one true love, and I can't listen to this CD without really missing her.
Sheryl Crow loves and plays on this album. The songs are just unbelievable.
Let's play first and get sentimental later. All I Wanna Do.....is have some fun is the ultimate play song. Think beach. Along the beach line is Soak Up the Sun. Who would not get up and moving to this song? This song makes me just want to go out and run through freshly cut grass or wash my car or something.
Who can't relate to Picture, with Kid Rock another of my very favorites. I recently found pictures of my ex and it broke my heart.
Other love songs on the CD are Strong Enough, My Favorite Mistake and The First Cut is the Deepest, which is obviously a remake of a remake, but probably the best version of this song out there.
Who has ever been in a relationship and can't relate to My Favorite Mistake. This is a song about knowing that someone is wrong for you, but just not being able to let go. Me and my ex to the tee.
The First Cut is the Deepest was my song to her, and I really wish that she could have understood what I was saying to her. Just listen to the words. I've been hurt, but I'm willing to try again if you will be gentle is the message here.
I don't usually do a whole lot of greatest hits albums, but I just couldn't resist this one. It has too many memories built in.
If you have ever suffered a broken heart, or just gotten in the mood where all you wanted to do is play because you don't want to think, this CD is for you because as only Sheryl Crow can, it takes you either way. This is great listening period.
