The Movie and Book are BOTH great!!!

Date of Review: May 10, 2008

The Bottom Line:  Its a movie everyone needs to see... Its a reality check!
Originally before the movie had even came out, I was sitting in a religious class at my Catholic school (in 7th grade) and my teacher stated, "We're going to read this book in religious class from now on.," holding The Ultimate Gift book up.

I grumbled to myself, "I hate books," and made a big a sigh came out, as in this will be boring, type of deal.

I just sat there, listening, as she described Jason Stevens and I thought, "Oh, sounds like me. That's just nice," while laughing aloud.

She kept reading each and everyday and eventually, the book made me crack and cry when there was mentioning of an alcoholic because, it too reminded me of my father.

You see- there is similarities between the movie and the book, The Ultimate Gift. The Ultimate Gift is about 12 series of gifts which I will not tell you because I don't want to ruin the surprise, though the series of gifts lead you to the ultimate gift.

Its what YOU choose to do with THOSE gifts that makes it pay off in the end. Do you learn from the series of gifts or do you simply, walk away and give up?

The Ultimate Gift movie:

Toward the beginning, it was rather slow and I thought, "Oh, this must be a boring movie," just like I thought about the book, but instead, that was the kind of movie it was, a slow one. Eventually it became interesting, if you just pay close attention to detail and what's happening.

It was heart breakening when I found out the girl (Emily) had cancer and all she wanted was to make her mother happy and that's what made her happy, but deep down, I could put myself in that family's shoes and though, "What if that was my little girl right now at 4 months old?," while crying.

It makes you come to a reality check. What do you want to do with your life? You may not know now, but once you watch this movie, its so inspiring, that it should help you know the qualities and what you'd like to do with your life. As Jason stated at the end of the movie, "I'd like to help people," what is it you'd like to do?

Do you have a dream? If so, what is your dream? Many have dreams and its OK to have dreams and this movie will teach you all about that.

If you do not have a dream, that's still fine, Jason didn't have one for awhile, until after a while, he realized what his dream truly was.

Do you want to know what the ULTIMATE gift was? If so, sorry, but you'll have to watch the movie! Its all about hard work, family, and some values that you have in your life, that many don't have a reality check on... With all those values, it leads to the ultimate gift.

Enjoy the movie!
