A "Must-See" Movie

My friends and I wanted to go to a movie one night. I let them pick the movie because I wasn't really up on what was playing at the time. They picked "The Ultimate Gift", not knowing anything about the movie--only that it was playing at the dollar theater and it would be cheap!

Well, were we ever in for a delightful surprise! I knew who James Garner was from his role in "The Rockford Files", but I did not know anything about any of the other actors in the movie. James Garner played a billionaire "Red" Stevens, who was making up his will. He wanted to leave his money to someone who would appreciate it and not abuse such a gift, and he knew that none of his family fit that bill. So, he creatively put together his will leave something to everyone. But, the majority of his money he wanted to be earned.

This is where Jason Stevens, played by Drew Fuller, came in. Jason was Red's grandson, and had never worked a day in his life. Red had great hopes for Jason, but knew there were important lessons in life that Jason needed to learn before he would be a proper manager of Red's estate. So, Red sets up a series of tests and lessons to see if Jason can fit the bill.

At first, Jason has a very bad attitude. He is not willing to do much. But as the movie goes on, and Jason is faced with some difficult trials and choices, he begins to change. He is forced to meet new people and gets involved in their lives. Through all Jason's experiences he doesn't realize that he is getting "gifts"---such as the gift of work, friendship, etc.

Jason is finally able to figure out the purpose of all these tests, and becomes a much better person. You'll have to watch the movie yourself to find out the rest of the story--but let me tell you that it is one of my very favorite movies! It's one of those that you don't mind watching over again. It is so touching and plays on many of your emotions. It is a good, clean movie without swearing or violence or any of the stuff that makes you cringe!

I hope you'll take the time to see this excellent movie and feel like the characters have become very close to you--just like I did! I HIGHLY recommend this great movie!
