I'm a Goofy Goober, Yeah!

I have got to say that I was never really interested in seeing this movie. The only reason I saw it was because my younger brother and cousin had nothing to do. So I just decided to see what this movie was all about.

It starts off with Mr. Krabs (Clancy Brown) opening up a Krusty Krab 2. The Krusty Krab is where all the undersea creatures go to get their Krabby Patties. Mr. Krabs also needs to hire a manager. SpongeBob (Tom Kenny) thinks that he is going to get the title because he's always been the "Employee of the Month". The day that Mr. Krabs picks the manager it ends up being Squidward (Rodger Bumpass). Then SpongeBob wonders why he didn't get the promotion, and Mr. Krabs tells him that he is a kid and isn't grown up enough to take the responsibilities.

Across the street is the Chum Bucket where nobody goes because it doesn't have Krabby Patties. The owner of it is Plankton (Mr. Lawrence), an evil genius. He has always tried to steal the Krabby Pattie formula, but never did. He has a drawer filled with plans A - Y. Then his wife, a computer he built himself, tells him that Z is the last letter in the alphabet. Plankton finds it all the way back in the drawer and pulls it out. He is convinced that this will be his best plan ever. His plan is to steal King Neptune's (Jeffrey Tambor) crown and blame it on Mr. Krabs.

Most of the movie is meant to be funny. I only found some parts funny while others where just foolish. Some things that make it funny is how each character is. My favorite is Mr Krabs, because he is just so greedy. He locks up every penny he's earned. Patrick is a starfish that could be compared to a rock, and sometimes isn't even aware of what is going on around him. Plankton is just the evil dude in the movie, and wants the Chum Bucket to be better than the Krusty Krab. I think that people who are familar with the show and characters will have a better time with the movie.

I used to watch the show very often when it was first out. Most of the episodes were 15-20 minutes, ( Not including the messages )and I thought they were well done for a kiddy show. The movie just didn't have the same feeling as the tv show. It seemed as if they had an idea for a 30 minute show and added some useless parts to give it length. I got bored pretty quick, and that's not too good.

My younger cousin ( 6yrs ) got this the day it came out. I'm sure he's watched it more than 10 times. My 9 year-old brother usually goes upstairs to watch it. He even told me that he found most of the movie boring, and really long. I bet that one reason he found it boring was because he wasn't used to watching SpongeBob for 90 minutes straight. The only movie that I can think of that kept me entertained for a while was Toy Story.

I have to say that this movie wasn't really funny. My brother and cousin laughed at a few parts, and I was just tired of watching after 45 minutes. I also got the feeling that they tried to make this movie serious in a way. There really weren't any plot twists and was pretty predictable.

The whole movie is a cartoon and takes place under the sea. During the movie I noticed the sun's rays on the floor moving around giving it the under sea look, and I thought that was cool. The sound was good and always there. An example is the squishing of SpongeBob's shoes while walking, and many other things.

To me the whole movie was a drag. I didn't think that it was that funny and it was just pointless. My brother and cousin thought it was great and probably will for a while. It would be a great investment for any child I would say. I guess there's also a lesson to learned in the movie. Even though SpongeBob didn't get to be manager, he stilled saved Mr. Krabs. I also would have given this a 3 star rating if it wasn't aimed towards kids.
