The Best Book I Ever Read

"A Secret History" by Donna Tartt is the most well written and captivating book I have ever read. From the very beginning to the last page, I was enthralled - actually upset when I finished the book - I didn't want it to end. The first time I read the book was in 1992 and I have read it every year since.

Donna Tartt took seven years to write the book and has not written another book since. Rumor has it that she has a book that is about to be published, and so I am at the edge of my seat.

The book is absolutely captivating. The characters are real and wonderful. The story, or perhaps the way it's written, makes you understand the feeling of wanting to kill someone. I applaud any book that takes you out of yourself and puts you in the shoes of another person.

You must read this book - it's a modern classic on the order of "The Great Gatsby" and "A Separate Peace."
