Replacements is my kind of football. Filled with laugher, bawdy remarks and good old fashion knock "em downs.

I saw the previews for this movie at the theaters awhile back and I had made a note that when it came out in video I would catch it. Rarely do I find a "football" show that I highly enjoy, but Replacements is right up there with Wildcats as pure fun.

Short blurb:

With the professional football players on strike, the coach needs to find "replacements" for the next game on Sunday. What he comes up with are; con men, thugs, drunks and old hash men. He puts these "scabs" together and hopes for the best.
What he gets is a team filled with "heart". (full understanding when viewer sees the movie)

Of course there is a touch of romance in it. Reeves falls for the head cheerleader (who is also the owner of a bar), and she is his encouragement to keep on going when things look the lowest.

The cheerleaders are also a focus point in this movie. The original cheerleaders also are absent, so there is an audition for these "replacements", what they get are a group of dancers who know how to shake and shimmie and ehem, draw attention from the game at times.

This movie is great. I don't think I have laughed so hard in a long time. Between the player who sees red and knocks his own mates down, to the smoking Aussie who is "wirey", you get a great group of characters that make a full impact together. (in bars and in jail...and even dancing together)
