Author's Review

Who do you consider to be the best rapper to come out of the south? Could it be Ludacris? Perhaps Lil Flip? What about Scraface? Nah its the self made king, T.I... No matter who consider they all have an aspect about their persona that some body likes meaning they are ALL good. In the mean time while you’re comparing these rappers Ludacris could careless and is parked in the Red Light District which is his fourth album from Def Jam/DTP records.

The Red Light District is started off with a some what pretentious swagger of attitude and ruthlessness when he starts out by saying, "Last album, they don't like me to tell this Debuted at #1 and sold more records than Elvis (shut up!)". Now if that’s not attitude the I don't know what is. He keeps on going and says then can lock him up but he will stay free in each on of his lines. Now trying to keep a man who sells that many records quiet is fairly impossible especially when he has asserted himself punch line king and can probably battle the old Eminem and keep his own.

Now his first single Ludacris warns people to "Get Back". While having fun at the same time over Medicine Man produced track. Now isn’t that something a Gansta having fun on record, that’s rare but Luda plays it off well with lines like, " It's the knick knack paddiwack still ridding Cadillac’s" and "We all in together now, birds of a feather now/ Just bought a plane so we changin the weather now". Playful and gangster at the same time, only Luda can pull this off.

He continues on by with the track “Number One Spot" produced by DJ Green Lantern as his another single where he proclaims he's going after that number one spot and no one will stop him from accomplishing this feat. And he then finishes of with his third single "Pimping All Over the World" featuring label mate Bobby Valentino. Now this truly shows how much fun this man is having while he is in the red light district. Because he's pimping and lighting up that Blueberry Yum Yum which is a track to look out for as he eloquently talks about the yum yum in the red light district. Produced by Organized Noize featuring the Sleepy Brown.

Guest appearances are just right. He features DMX on the track "Put Your Money". Dj Quik and Trick Daddy also make cameos as does Nate Dogg. From an outside point of view this seems like an album about crime, violence, prostitution, drugs and more. But if you’re a true Ludacris fan then you can see passed that and just enjoy this album for what it is.
