The Anti-Diesel.

by   jeff_wilder78 , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Jul 5, 2003
Pros: Good action and suspense, performances by Pacino and Farrell.
Cons: The way everything is neatly resolved at the end.
The Bottom Line: The Bottom Line is that nothing is as it seems.
Review: So it came to pass that while looking for a movie to watch with a friend on Friday night, that I hap ...

A definite Recruit for your DVD collection

by   capernicus ,  Jun 24, 2004
Pros: Pacino, story-line, and interesting characters. Makes an enjoyable film replete with twists and suspense.
Cons: Many, many holes.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this movie to anyone who is a Pacino fan, or enjoys a CIA film every once in a while with twists and suspense.
Review: Al Pacino still has it as he delivers another nicely done film of deception and corruption. The Recruit is a fairly good movie that has a plethora of twists, especially at the very end, and suspenseful scenes. The plot isn't that bad either, but, for ...

Socko's Movie Review of The Recruit

by   mrsocko316 ,  Aug 9, 2003
Pros: Colin Farrell is slowly becoming one of my favorite new actors, Al Pacino as always
Cons: Plot seemed to twist for the sake of twisting
The Bottom Line: Carried by strong performances by Farrell and Pacino, this one is definitely worth seeing at least once.
Review: Well, back after two years, and I'm cranking out a second review in as many days. I guess I must hav ...

This is scary stuff!

by   ccpath ,  May 23, 2003
Pros: Al Pacino plays an awesome role! Very disturbing movie
Cons: The scary thought that this could really happen
The Bottom Line: Watch The Recruit. You never know who is on the right track and who is getting it. Be careful who to believe in- you may be wrong!!!
Review: It scares me to death to see this movie. The CIA's training program is intense and disturbing. If this is really how we train these officers, WOW! Al Pacino plays a CIA trainer who is teaching at the FARM (a CIA Training Facility). Colin Farrell and...

A good evening in

by   sigers99 ,  Jun 11, 2003
Pros: Unexpected good movie
Cons: Start to figure out the plot
The Bottom Line: This is a movie that I even watched 2 times over the weekend just so the rest of the family could see it.

The Recruit Is Nothing Special

by   lynus , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Jun 19, 2003
Pros: Action and drama balanced.
Cons: Writing.
The Bottom Line: Joins a list where intensity overshadows the story to the point that we not only care how it ends, we don’t care how we got to that point.
Review: With more concise writing and closer detail to prevent overtly foreshadowing the ending of the movie ...

Is Colin Farrell The Real Deal, And Is This The Film To Judge That By?

by   katmar ,  Jun 14, 2003
Pros: Pacino, some early scenes
Cons: Waaaaay too many
The Bottom Line: If you think Farrell's hot, and the Second Coming, then by all means see it. If not, rent "The Game".
Review: Colin Farrell is a popular man these days: Daredevil, The Recruit, Phone Booth - and t ...

On this DVD, nothing is what it seems.

by   deadmilkboy , top reviewer in Movies at Epinions.com ,  Jun 19, 2003
Pros: Al Pacino, Colin Farrell, Bridget Moynahan, the training scenes and chemistry.
Cons: The ending is formulaic and the plot twists are resolved by banter.
The Bottom Line: When Al Pacino and Colin Farrell can kick butt when a movie like this gets frivolous, you know you're in good hands.

Recruit-ed

by   agentsmith136 ,  Jan 24, 2004
Pros: See Below
Cons: See Below
The Bottom Line: The Recruit deserves a half-hearted salute.
Review: The idea of the "high-tech" thriller is an interesting one. In films that fall into this classification, it seems as though the only thing that gets an upgrade is the hardware the characters use, while the routine thriller elements we've all seen in ...

A Really Quick Non-Review

by   thewasp ,  May 22, 2009
Pros: Unexpected developments leading up to a killer ending
Cons: Couldn't really hold my attention in the middle
The Bottom Line: I abbreviate this review because I didn't watch the whole movie.
Review: In "The Recruit," Colin Farrell plays James Clayton, a computer programmer recently graduated from MIT, whose software skills bring him to the attention of the CIA in the person of Walter Burke (Al Pacino).  After acquiring one particularly useful ...
