All around goodness

First off I would like to say that I NEVER have really liked to read fiction books, so with that said...

When I first picked up this book I thought that the name was kind of weird. But my best friend wanted me to read it, so I figured I'd give it a try. Once I read to the end of the first chapter I didn't want to put it down. I absolutely was hooked. Then when I got to the second chapter I found out that the book was an alternating first person flashback narration novel. Therefore there are actually two people telling the story about "The Pigman." The two teenagers, one boy, one girl, tell about a story of then meeting "The Pigman." The Author, Paul Zindel does a very good job with making the story sound like it was written by a teenager. Maybe not a teenager these days (because the book was published in the late 70's) but still told like a teenager would none the less. To my surprise there is also a movie by the name of "Harold and Maude" that is very similar in many ways to this novel. I don't know if this is pure coincidence or if the book was based on the movie. But they were both good.



NOW HERE IS A LITTLE MORE ABOUT THE BOOK, IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY OF THE PLOT REVEILED THEN PLEASE DON'T READ THIS AREA...

NOW SOME OF YOU MIGHT BE WONDERING WHO THIS PIGMAN IS...
WELL THE PIGMAN IS AN OLD MAN THAT THE TWO TEENAGERS MEET THROUGH A PRANK CALL. THE TEENS SEEM TO FEEL SORRY FOR HIM AND EVENTUALLY BECOME VERY CLOSE TO HIM. NOW EACH DAY THEY ARE CONSTANTLY DOING THINGS WITH HIM. YOU MAY WONDER WHY THEY CALL HIM THE PIGMAN...WELL I THINK YOU SHOULD READ THE BOOK TO FIND THAT OUT. ALSO IN THE BOOK THERE IS A VERY SURPRISE ENDING. YOU'LL LOVE IT!
