Mothman Prophecies-I Want To Live Forever!

Date of Review:  Feb 4, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you enjoy thinking you can live forever- this is the one for you.
Review: Mothman? What the heck is this all about? I am a skeptic. Perhaps it is because I have lived in New York my whole life. We are not the breed of people that will be knocked over by just any theory. Mothman Prophecies is a new flick starring the sexy...

The Mothman Prophecies: Made me Want to Know More!

Date of Review:  Jan 27, 2002
The Bottom Line: "A psychological mystery with naturally surreal overtones," Mark Pellington, director. Mysterious and surreal it definitely is, bound to keep me wondering for a while.
Review: Do you believe in psychic connections, predictions of the future, mass hallucinations, loved ones connecting with us after death, or maybe UFO's?

Take your choice -- any of these or none of these -- could be the premise of this rather...

Richard Gere is actually pretty good in The Mothman Prophecies

Date of Review:  Jul 6, 2002
The Bottom Line: Though nothing like I thought it would be The Mothman Prophecies is not 100% predictable, but is enjoyable and entertaining.
Review: Don't you just hate it when there's nothing to watch on TV? I sure do and the fact that we pay for our cable (and pay a lot, I may add) doesn't help. Knowing I'd be home and bored out of my mind, I went to Blockbuster tonight (along with half my...

Contains at Least 7% Real Scary Material: The Mothman Prophecies

Date of Review:  Jan 25, 2007
The Bottom Line: The movie really lets a lot of good opportunities escape and offers no closure to the audience. Good for one viewing.
Review: The Mothman Prophecies (2002)

Have you ever seen these products that contain at least __% of whatever they are supposed to be? This breakfast drink - I forget the name - advertises on the bottle like that. Whenever I see something like...

Pellington's -The Mothman Prophecies -2002-FRIDAY THE THIRTEENTH WRITE OFF

Date of Review:  Sep 13, 2002
The Bottom Line: Except for the lack of meaningful word exchange, this movie is a terrifically scary thriller! Be prepared!
Review: Friday the Thirteenth, long before any movie made reference to any horrific story, has always been associated with bad luck, things strange and unexplained, and paranormal phenomenon. From one point of view, it is the stuff of superstition,...

My Prophecy? You'll Love The Mothman!

Date of Review:  Jan 26, 2002
The Bottom Line: The Mothman Prophecies is an excellent movie that keeps you thinking and asking the question, "Do you think it's possible?" What a wonderful gift that is!
Review: In 1966, the sleepy town of Point Pleasant, West Virginia took a turn for the bizarre. Sightings of a winged anthropromorphic creature, nearly eight feet tall and clad in black, began popping up all about Point Pleasant. People complained of...

A Disturbing, But Ultimately Frustrating Movie

Date of Review:  Jan 26, 2002
The Bottom Line: I really wanted to like this movie...but like a REAL moth, it just kinda ticked me off.
Review: I was ready to be scared. Terrified, even. I'm a great person to see scary movies with. If you have a theater with 200 people in it, and only one person jumps, it's going to be me. If anyone screams, it'll be me. Nightmares for a week afterward?...

A solid 90-minute flick trapped in a 2-hour mess.

Date of Review:  Apr 26, 2002
The Bottom Line: While it's definitely not an AWFUL film, The Mothman Prophecies could have been greatly improved by a more heartless editor and a lot more intensity.
Review: Skipping clumsily between 'creepily interesting' and 'downright boring', Mark Pellington's schizophrenic The Mothman Propecies is a solid 100-minute thriller. Unfortunately, the actual running time is well over 2 hours.

I'm predicting big...

"The Mothman Prophecies": The Only Good Bug Is A Dead Bug.

Date of Review:  Oct 1, 2002
The Bottom Line: A psychological horror film that offers little mind bending or genuine scares. About as true a story as Fargo.
Review: Any fool can spot an urban legend. They're the type of stories you hear every day, recounted to you by friends or acquaintances, a bizarre event that happened to a person so ambiguous that the only recollection is that they're a "friend of a...

"What's In My Hand?" "Duh... I dunno. Chap Stick?"

Date of Review:  Jun 13, 2002
The Bottom Line: Director Mark Pellington fills the screen with suspense and mystery, but finally leaves the audience hanging a little too much for my taste. Not bad, but could have been better.
Review: Director Mark Pellington knows what a suspense thriller is supposed to look like. He know all the camera set-ups and all the editing moves. And he knows that certain framings are supposed to yield "shock" results and that certain cut-aways are...
