A truly inspiring tale

Date of Review:  Sep 25, 2000
Review: I read The Lost Boy yesterday. Having read A Child Called 'It' the day before, I was anxious to see how David would cope and what his life would be like after being saved from his mother's home.

About the book

The Lost Boy is the...

THE LOST BOY: How does a kid regarded as a "thing" by his parent survive?

Date of Review:  Aug 8, 2001
The Bottom Line: If you care about kids, you should read this book. If you REALLY care about kids, you REALLY should read this book.
Review: It is hard to be objective about the book The Lost Boy by Dave Pelzer. Between gritting my teeth while reading this story, I tried to keep my objectivity but deep down I alternately wanted to help and really lash out at the child's abusive parent...

Searching For Love

Date of Review:  Jun 2, 2001
The Bottom Line: The life of a child who was abused by his Mother. All he wanted was to be loved. He did find Love in some of the Foster Homes.
Review: This is the second book in the series that started with "A Child Called It". The first one was based on David's life between the ages of four to twelve. This book is based on his life between ages twelve to eighteen.

To recap on some of...

The Lost Boy- What became of A Child Called "It"

Date of Review:  Jul 7, 2002
The Bottom Line: Though many questions go unanswered, better amd less depressing than A Child Called "It". Pelzer does a great job sharing his battle to overcome his emotional scars.
Review: I recently read A Child Called "It" by Dave Pelzer. It was the story of one of the worst cases of child abuse documented in the state of California. One of the worst? How could any child survive worse than what Dave Pelzer's own mother did to him?...

An Abused Boy's Search for Identity

Date of Review:  Apr 10, 2000
The Bottom Line: This is a good follow- up book to "A Child Called It" that follows Dave through his adolescent years as he tries to find himself and cope with his past.
Review: David Pelzer's second book, "The Lost Boy", picks up where his first book, "A Child Called It" left off. This book details Pelzer's adolescent years, from age 12 to age 18, starting with his rescue from abuse in 1973, to his decision to join the...

The Lost Boy, by David Pelzer

Date of Review:  Dec 3, 2004
The Bottom Line: 2nd in Pelzer's trilogy. With his induction into the Air Force in this volume, I can't imagine what the last volume could include.
Review: Between the ages of 4 and 12, David Pelzer was subjected to one of the most horrible cases of child abuse ever discovered in California. He was forced to live in the basement garage, he was deprived of food for days on end--and when he was granted...

"The Lost Boy" - The search for love

Date of Review:  Jun 2, 2001
The Bottom Line: A must read for those who have already read "A Child Called 'It'".
Review: ?The Lost Boy? is the second book of a three part autobiographical series written by David Peltzer. For those unfamiliar with his story, David Peltzer suffered horrific abuse, both physical and emotion, by his mother from the time he was four until...

If You Think You Know What Abuse Is, You Need to Read This Book

Date of Review:  Aug 22, 2008
The Bottom Line: This will open up your eyes as to what abuse really is. Plus, if you're biological children think they have been abused have them read this book.
Review: The lost boy is written from the viewpoint of a child in the foster care system. In this book it covers the time from when the other David Pelzer was 12 years old, and entered the system until he was 18 years old and exits the system. The book talks...
