Author's Review
I can honestly say that this was a perfect find for our family movie time. This trilogy is filled with mythical creatures, magic, war and love. All the ingredients to any great fairy tale. Even better, our family ages from 3 to 31, and everyone of us enjoyed the movies.
This trilogy is about a ring they is extremely powerful, and if in the wrong hands, could bring destruction and ruin to the entire world. The ring had been lost and forgotten about until a great wizard realized that it was hidden away with a hobit.
In the beginning of the trilogy, Bilbo gives the ring to his nephew, to go on his final journey and finish his book. The nephew, Frodo Baggins, has no clue what the ring is or the great turn that is about to happen to his life, or the lives of his three close friends who go along for the journey.
As well as his friends, Frodo has a great assortment of new friends he will get assistance from throughput the movies. There are Elves, Dwarfs, Wizards, men, trees that walk and talk, and of course the golum who is a mixture of friend and foe. To make matters more complex, his friends are also tempted to take the ring for it's power.
His enemy is a big eye, in which the spirit of the most feared resides. This enemy has found alliance with a wizard, who has built him an army of thousands of Orc and other scary creatures to find the ring and take over the world.
The trilogy tells the tale of Frodo and his friends adventures to rid the world of the ring, and all the adventures on the way. As in all stories, there are many adventures along the way. The rode is filled with monsters and evil, and of course, the worst of all the the end they are struggling to reach. This is in the very heart of thier enemies lair.
Much fighting and action fills the depth of the movie. The heros in the movie continually seem to be up against unbeatable odds. The worst being hidden right in the center of their own side of the battle. As soon as a way to beat the odds has been found, another unthinkable road block is again put in there way.
This trilogy was a must for our movie collection. It oozes with lessons in friendship, loyalty, love and shows that great rewards come to those who never give up. As well, it shows lessons on greed, treatury and much, much more.
The Lord of the Rings was a major hit with all ages in our house. As well, we have gotten our moneys worth, since it has been watch many times by the children. I never have to worry about the nature of the movie when guests come over, and the underlying messages are good for the children.
