The Long Winter

Date of Review: Jan 4, 2000

The Long Winter is the sixth in the series and the first where Laura Ingalls meets Almanzo Wilder. The winter is harsh and Almanzo risks his life to try to save the people of the town. The snow covers to the rooftops!!

This book tells of the harsh winter, blizzards and freezing temperatures. Any child reading this story will appreciate the difficulties of the situation and be more apt to see his own life a little differently.

It is interesting because for the first time, Laura and Almanzo meet and, as they say, the rest is history. But it is neat to see how they got along at first and to see the perspectives of the characters.

I would recommend this book to any school aged child! Continue with the series and it will be worth it. Reading is fun and this is no exception!
