Lizzie Lifts My Spirits

Okay, first let me begin by saying that I am a huge fan of the Lizzie McGuire show and that I think Hilary Duff is really cute in her role. This whole "I like you, you like me, but we can't tell each other" romance between Lizzie and Gordo has been driving me insane! I saw the movie on a day when I was a little depressed because my mom and I had gotten into a small fight, but the thing is, my mom and I never fight! I needed a pick-me-up and the Lizzie McGuire movie sounded like the perfect movie...and it was!

The movie begins with Lizzie (Hilary Duff) and Gordo's (Adam Lamberg) middle school graduation. They are about to go to high school and enter what to them appears to be a more fascinating world. First, the students take a "field trip" to Europe, to Rome to be exact, to get to know each other and their new principle, Miss Ungermeyer (Alex Borstein). They arrive in Rome and in the hustle and bustle of an afternoon outing, Lizzie meets Paolo (Yani Gellman), a young, handsome, Italian singing superstar who has just parted ways with his singing partner and is in need of a replacement. Apparently, Lizzie looks identical to this girl and Paolo asks her to be the replacement and sing with him at the European Music Awards...Lizzie agrees. She leaves Gordo behind to pursue her own dreams, professionally and romantically. Throughout the film, the audience is forced to wonder who will she choose, Gordo or Paolo? And, what life will she choose, international superstar or plain-jane Lizzie McGuire? The ending probably isn't too hard for you to figure out, but it's cute!

All young children and tweens will love this movie! It's a good mother-daughter film and it has a good ending. It's very rare to see a fun, family film where there no foul language, no violence, no sex, nothing unsuitable for children, but this movie defies the norms and is excellent! All girls will love this movie and it's worth the money. Even if you're not a fan of the show, give the movie a chance. I left with a smile on my face and a happy heart!
