It's been a while since I watched the Little Mermaid, but after reading a recent Epinion, the entire soundtrack came flooding back (no pun intended) in my head.
The story and animation of this Disney movie is wonderful - top notch - but what really makes this move fabulous are the talents of the voice actors - and the big star - the music.
Ashman and Menkin, who wrote the music for Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast and most of Aladdin were a fabulous team. They brought in a whole new Golden Age of Disney. These guys are great. Lots of emotional range and intelligent lyrics! The songs here are great for kids and grown ups. One of the things that makes an animated movie great is if it can appeal to viewers at different levels - kid and grown-up - without condescending to either.
I think I need to go dig out my copy. Happy viewing.
