Author's Review
I bought this set because I'm a die hard Carlin fan. I already had most of the albums in this set, all except "Wally Londo" and, of course, the bonus disc, but on tape.
My favorite album in this set is "Toledo Window Box," with such classic routines as "Nursery Rhymes" (Yeah, I see it too!) and "Gay Lib" (...and suddenly the light comes on, and it's the same sex, you've been trained to go, "AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!") Also, there's "Class Clown," which I have somewhere on vinyl, and was the first Carlin album I ever heard. I remember laughing my a-s-s off at the title bit (The Ahtificial Faht Undah the Ahm!). The bonus disc has lots of great bits not available on his other albums, including the one about when things get weird (And it's a wandering band of maniacs! Mwuhahahahahaha!) and "Peas" (Three cans of goddamn peas. I must be an adult now.).
Well, as is obvious, this set contains all of his albums from the first time he had long hair, back when he was performing at campuses. The bonus disc also contains some bits from his later years, including "I'm Musical" (It means if you hit in the head with a pipe, I make a noise.) He is in rare form on these albums, and does some of his funniest bits.
I think fans of Janeane Garofalo, Dennis Leary, Jim Breuer, Chris Rock, Paula Poundstone, and Margaret Cho would love Carlin, especially on these albums. I know that he was Chris Rock's main influence, and I'm sure he was a big influence on the others, too.
