An Action Packed Rollercoaster Ride from Start to Finish

by   vemartin ,  Jan 20, 2000
Pros: Beautiful music, and scenery, brilliant acting, stunning action sequences.
Cons: Not long enough
The Bottom Line: Its almost time to dust the movie off again, pop some popcorn, grab some M&M’s (plain not peanut) and settle in to be entertained to the fullest.
Review: There are very few movies that move me enough in either plot or action, to warrant a second look, let alone a devotional following that compels me buy the movie, take it out, dust it off, and watch it every year without fail. ...

Just a really excellent movie.

by   scott29 ,  Jun 24, 2000
Pros: You name it.
Cons: May be too graphic for grannie.
Review: I challenge anyone to watch this movie and NOT be moved by the final 25 minutes. Director Michael Mann keeps the plot and brilliant action sequences moving along quickly, stopping only occasionally for a sweet romance scene or some governmental...

How an Emotion Looks and Sounds

by   pyallen ,  Jul 26, 2000
Pros: Absolutely stunning cinematography
Cons: none
Review: I saw this on videotape when it was first released, and I loved it. I watched it on DVD last night, and I'm overwhelmed. This movie is full of the richest, most beautiful ART that I've ever seen anywhere.

Before I continue my ecstatic...

The Last of the Mohicans

by   revco98 ,  Apr 20, 2000
Pros: Great story, action, soundtrack
Cons: Too gory for some people
Review: Last of the Mohicans, based on the literary classic by James Fenimore Cooper, is simply an amazing movie. This movie takes place in 1757 during the French-Indian War. A love story involving an English upper-class woman and an adopted son of the...

Rescuing the Indian Soul in America

by   danwood ,  Nov 14, 2000
Pros: You take a look at what was America just before the U.S. Independence.
Cons: It is still a product of our imagination, i.e., you will have to face it considering the actual distance between you (in civilization) and them (living what you should need to consider in order to preserve nature.)
Review: Today most of us have heard about how much the western white men devastated American Indians. That happened not only by the hands of Englishmen, but by the hands of many western colonizers who put his/her feet on America’s soil: in South America, mostly...

Frontier Superhero!

by   janesbit1 ,  Mar 15, 2000
Pros: Cinematography, music, sound, authenticity, captures romantic spirit of Cooper's novel, good lead acting
Cons: Some will find history a little hard to follow, an out of shape Russell Means
Review: I was set up to relate to any workable rendition of The Last of the Mohicans. I really got into James Fenimore's Leatherstocking Tales when I was in high school and would have read the whole series if my English teacher hadn't stopped me...

So, I'm Flipping Through The Channels...

by   thornhill ,  Jan 15, 2002
Pros: Epic filmmaking with great acting and great visual direction from Michael Mann.
Cons: None.
The Bottom Line: A great action film filled with romance.
Review: Last Saturday night, as I was flipping through channels, I came across the FX Network and they were showing Michael Mann’s “The Last of The Mohicans”, a film from 1992, starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Madeline Stowe. Despite the fact that the film was...

Stunning! Romantic! Historical! Pure Magic!

by   4paws ,  Jun 30, 2000
Pros: Story, Cinematography, historical romance
Cons: nothing important
Review: Last of the Mohicans is one of the best interpretations of a book I think I’ve ever seen. When you take the story written so well by James Fenimore Cooper and retell it against the most lush and stunning scenery you’ve ever seen (which was actually...

Now this is a movie worthy of a thousand sequels!

by   jediprincess ,  Jul 11, 2001
Pros: The most potent love story you can submerse yourself into, with action galore!
Cons: Not one con!
The Bottom Line: Don't just watch this movie. DIVE into it! Enjoy it to the max! Relish it. And dream.
Review: Can someone please tell me why I waited so long to see this movie?! Ah yes! I remember now...I was a raving idiot! Seriously though, I think I was too young to appreciate this type of movie. But I got older and sauntered pass the TV one day. Hmmm...what...

by   mrbrown ,  Mar 2, 2000
Pros: Great performances; stunning cinematography; exciting action.
Cons: Some weaknesses in the script.
Review: The violent battles, dense forests, savage Indians, and towering waterfalls of 18th-century Colonial America are brought to life in The Last of the Mohicans, director Michael Mann's powerful period epic set during the French and Indian War.
