Author's Review
I will start by saying I have seen him in concert on his last two tours. He is great live! He puts on a great show and really performs for his fans! And this album reflects his great sound live! And I will add that he does not molest little children, nor does he have sex on stage, nor does he pee on the crowd, nor does he kill animals. I will say he rude to his protesters outside. Can get rude to the police in the place. And I can say he tears apart a Bible. But hey, is that all so bad? I don't know. I suppose!
With a burning cross for a cover piece, I am sure the critics loved it from the start right? NOT! The inserts are filled with images from his live tour.
The Band:
Manson- vocals
Ramirez- bass (though guitar on recording albums)
Gacy- keyboards
Fish- drums
John5- guitar for concerts
The tracks:
1. Inauguration Of The Mechanical Christ- a slow, quiet intro where in the show I saw he raises up for the crowd on his cross in center stage! It is just an intro though. It gets 5 stars... hey it is only an intro ok!
2. The Reflecting God- My all time favorite track by him. And he hits it perfect in this recording. In fact, he it perfect both times I have seen him live. A great track when done live. His hard, ear bleeding sound at it's best i think! Released originally on Antichrist Superstar. It gets 5 stars!
3. Great Big White World- a slower paced song from Mechanical Animals. The crowd loves this song too. They react to it well. And it sounds good done live once again! It gets 5 stars!
4. Get Your Gunn- Oh my. Do critics just hate this song. It is violent and very ... well... we leave it at that! Great hard sound and ear bleeding which is great live. Fans love this track performed live, we slam our fists in the air to the chorus of "get your gun"! Another song just done great the night of the recording! It gets 5 stars!
5. Sweet Dreams/ Hell Outro- the song that people first took to by him. Well a lot of them at least. We all know the song as done by the Eurythmics right? Ugh... that version is like a piece of candy compared to this one! And he does it so well live again! It gets 5 stars!
6. Rock Is Dead- though not one of my favorite tracks released from Mechanical Animals, live does it justice. I guess to be able to slam your body around a bit to it helps? It sound great on the live recording though. It gets 4 stars. ONLY because I don't like the track originally. Though if not for that it gets 5 stars!
7. The Dope Show- of course his first radio release from Mechanical Animals that I really think is a sell out. And it just sucked in concert. I hated it... was yawning. But on the album of you like the song, it done pretty well. The background vocal chick has to go though. It gets 3 stars!
8. Lunchbox- well, he starts with his love for the protesters outside! We just love this part! And he moves into the famous lyrics intro to Lunchbox. The is classic Manson. Only true long time fans will know this one. It gets 5 stars! I love the old him!
9. I Don't Like The Drugs (But The Drugs Like Me)- well, again he gets into it with the crowd a bit. He tells his dream of drugs and the hatred of police. I think every officer in the house were afraid at this point! but anyhow. The track gets 4 stars! I love his dream though. Very interesting! Maybe?
10. Antichrist Superstar- well we know this was released from Antichrist Superstar right? A heavy track again where he plays the preacher and tears apart the Bible! The track gets 5 stars.
11. The Beautiful People- released again from Antichrist Superstar. one of the more famous tracks by him again. Associated with the great drum beat and harsh guitar riff thrown over it. Live has a great bass line as well! It gets 5 stars!
12. Irresponsible Hate Anthem- "we hate love, we love hate". The world's motto! One of his hardest, fastest releases from Antichrist Superstar again. It gets 5 stars!
13. The Last Day On Earth- slows the show down again. Released from Mechanical Animals and made for a great track. Live it packs an added punch with the acoustic guitar! It gets 5 stars.
14. Astonishing Panorama Of The Endtimes- a great guitar piece and rhythm! I could think of better ways to close the show though. It gets 4 stars.
So there you have it. Manson live in concert! Did anyone else take note to most of the songs NOT coming from Mechanical Animals? I know I do. And the one thing I noted, the "new" fans only knew like 2 songs top! They sat dumb founded through the rest of the show! I loved his Antichrist Superstar tour more. Only TRUE fans were there! And more protesters outside for it as well! Go figure!
So the fans who hate him... go ahead.. rate me bad. For those that like him or who are just open minded, rate it the way you see fit!
