Author's Review
I'm a Marilyn Manson fan. I also have a job, wife, kids and a pretty happy normal life. I'm not "misunderstood" or depressed. I'm also not likely to go crazy one day and blame it all on the music...
That being said, let me tell you a little bit about this CD. I really like it. I haven't been to any of their concerts, and I probably never will, so this CD is a real treat. It almost feels like I'm there.
The production quality is really high, better in fact than on Antichrist Superstar (in my opinion). It's just cleaner and tighter.
The songs are a nice mix from the various efforts Manson has released over the years. Some of my faves are (in no particular order) Sweet Dreams, Beautiful People, Lunchbox, Dope Show and (possibly the best song on the CD) Astonishing Panorama of the Endtimes.
Apparently the songs were selected from various venues on the tour, and are not just from one show. I don't really have a problem with that, because they sound great. It would be nice however to have an entire show to listen to. Maybe they can release a 2 CD set later on...
Manson's banter with the audience is typically profane, but you should expect that from him. That being said, this isn't really a CD appropriate for young children. I'd have to say it's ok for 15 and up though.
As usual, Marilyn Manson delivers on all levels. This is definitely a CD worth buying.
