Huh.... my story?

This is one of my all time favourite movies, made back in the late seventies when Steve Martin was the King of Stupid (in the nicest possible way).
The plot is based on him being raised by a black family only to be told on his 18th birthday that he is not their natural son. On hearing mainstream radio for the first time he decides to go and search out this other world: "while this is out there, think how much more is out there!".
There are SO MANY hilarious bits in this film, I have watched it over 15 times and I still love it. If I had to pick a favourite bit, it's probably when he is working for Harry Hartounian at the gas station - the phone book, assasination attempt and creation of the "Optigrab" which makes him "be somebody".
Unfortunately Martin's later performances has lost the outright dumbness that he portrays here.
If you like the Naked Gun type humour, you'll love this - it's not necessarily as literal, but just as mindless and downright daft.
The plot is similar to Scarface in so much as it's rags to riches to rags - but any other parallels end there!!!
