Author's Review
Jesus Christ. If I see one more British comedy like this I will have to go on a rampage. It's just horrible, all the British seem to be able to come up with are un-funny romantic comedies. "Four Weddings and a Funeral" was good, but to keep on trying to repeat the formula 8 years on is just pathetic. I admit, I was laughing during this film, but not laughing with it, I was laughing at it. It's just incredibly corny and cheesy, some people will argue that it is supposed to be that way, but when I find myself humiliated to be in the cinema watching this tripe then it's time to give up. This film has nothing, no heart, not a single good performance, and I don't think any of the characters are supposed to be liked or fealt for. Rami is a dance teacher who lives in India wanting to be a big Hollywood actor. He prefers musicals such as "Grease" rather than the typical Bollywood song and dance. He finally goes to America to be an actor but can only get a place in a porn film which is where he meets Heather Graham. However he can't seem to meet the criteria of a porn star. After a Guru falls uncontious at a party Rami must take his place in order to not let down the customers, not being very wise he tells the people some advice which Heather Graham had given to him. Realising its success he then asks Graham to be his teacher and uses her knowledge as a guru behind her back. Of course he falls in love with Graham despite the fact she is getting married. Even though he deceives her you can guess the predictable ending. Predictable films are not always bad films, but when you have awful performances which make you cringe, jokes which don't make you laugh and a film which you are surprised even got made then you'll see where i'm coming from. Hopefully this will be the end of the British Rom-Com. Let's have more "Dog Soldiers". P.S The soundtrack was pretty good, though the fact they stole some of the best parts of "Grease" was unforgivable.
