Author's Review
Like so many of my favorite movies, this is a combination dark comedy/suspense/action/thriller movie that keeps you interested from beginning to end.
The movie centers around Doc McCoy, a career small-time criminal, who is likeable nonetheless, and played by Alec Baldwin. His wife, played by real-life partner Kim Basinger, starts off the film by expressing her desire to get out of the criminal life. "One last job," thinks Doc, and thus begins the adventure of the movie.
There is a parallel plot that involves one of my favorite actresses, Jennifer Tilly. When one of the bad guys gets shot, he decides to show up at vet's office for medical assistance. With the aid of his pistol, he "convinces" the vet to remove the bullet, despite the nervous vet's protests. When that task is completed, it's time to hit the road, and Jennifer Tilly's character turns from scared victim to eagerly willing accomplice!
The final showdown between the duo of the bad guy and Jennifer Tilly, and Doc and Carol (Kim Basinger)takes place in a dusty hotel. There are a lot of cat-and-mouse scenes, with plenty of action as well.
There is a scene towards the end of the movie that I found hilarious!!!! I won't give away the details, but will say that it involves Jennifer Tilly looking for her bad guy boyfriend, and how he ends up finding her!
The cast in this movie is terrific: Alec Baldwin, Kim Basinger, James Woods and Jennifer Tilly are among the stars.
I recommend this movie for anyone who enjoys dark comedy in an action/suspense movie. Other movies I've enjoyed of this genre are: Kalifornia, Tequila Sunrise, The Professional and Freeway.
