Review: We got this gate when my daughter was starting to walk to put in our doorway leading to the hallway. We wanted to keep her in the living room. We have loved it!! It is wonderful! She has never been able to push the pedal to make it open and she is...

Very Disappointed

Date of Review:  Oct 7, 2003
Review: I thought this gate would be sturdy and provide me with piece of mind. I was very disappointed when my small child was able to put enough weight on it to open it. To me it is now useless. The advertisements are not reliable.

A truly hands-free gate!

Date of Review:  Oct 17, 2003
The Bottom Line: I recommend this to any parent. It has served us well and kept our baby safe.
Review: My husband and I first bought 2 of the First Years Hands-Free Gate to contain our overly energetic 70-pound yellow lab, and they remain in service now that our little girl is crawling and trying to walk. The gate features a foot pedal that a...

Too easy!

Date of Review:  Dec 2, 2002
The Bottom Line: Works great until the kids figure it out. I thought "The First Years", implied more than one year.
Review: Opening
I have two of these gates and they have been great, easy to open especially when you are carrying things. Unfortunately my son is now 17 months old and being the tricky little guy he is he learned how to open them both. He stands on the...

The Best Safety Gate Ever - No Hands Needed!

Date of Review:  Mar 29, 2004
The Bottom Line: This gate would be perfect for any doorway needing a safety gate.
Review: When our son started crawling before 6 months of age, we came to that second stage first time parents go through - finding out just how much in our house is absolutely not baby-proof. While we wanted him to have as much space to explore as possible,...

Hands Free Gate is the Best

Date of Review:  Feb 1, 2008
The Bottom Line: I went through many gates and this is the only one that didn't fall over or crack, I have many pets and 2 kids so it is very durable
Review: I had 3 of these in my last house.I paid about 50.00 each and the extender bars were around 15.00 each. I needed the extender on each of them as my doorways were wider than the standard gate .
I bought all of them at Babies R Us. I have used...

not for me

Date of Review:  Mar 26, 2007
Review: I tried to use this gate, but it was not for me!! I had a hard time putting it up!! It is a good idea for a gate, but if you have smart children, then watch out. My son figured out that if he sat on the foot release, the gate would open. He also was...

Strong and Sturdy Saves the Day

Date of Review:  Jul 18, 2002
The Bottom Line: Strong and steady gate that leaves no marks on doors, hallways, easy to assemble and unlimited adjustments. However, not for wide hallways or big openings. Well worth the price!
Review: Pros:
Steady and strong, NOT flimsy
Attractive ? white metal coated structure provides neutral home decor
Pressure-mounted screw structure allows for infinite adjustments
Easy assembly ? can install in less than five minutes

Date of Review:  Jul 2, 2007
The Bottom Line: Good hands free gate which seems to be quite sturdy.
Review: Hands free on something at least…every little bit helps!
