Great gate for toddler's room!

I did extensive research before making my 6th gate purchase! Throughout our house we had 5 gates, 4 different types--each serving its own distinct purpose. However, when we moved our 19 month old into his "big boy" bed (twin bed with nothing to keep him in!), we realized quickly that we would need yet another gate to place in his doorway.

I set out to find a gate that a) could be pressure-mounted b/c it had to go on the door frame, b) was able to open and close since it would be in a well-traveled doorway and lastly, c) was toddler-proof. The Hands-Free gate is all of these things in one!

My husband and I set this gate up in a matter of minutes. Pressure-mounting proved to be very easy with the tool that was provided. I will mention that I could not have tightened it myself--it took a little more strength to get it as secure as I would have liked, so my husband's help was required. The gate fit well in our 29 inch doorway. A pleasant surprise to us was that when we placed the gate on the outer part of the frame, it enabled the bedroom door to still function!

After reading some reviews of this gate, I was concerned about whether or not my son would be able to open it. However, my concern vanished when I tried the gate myself. The foot pedal is extremely tight and requires a very firm step in order to open. There is no way that my now 22 month old will be able to open this gate any time soon. Now I feel safe when I lay him down for a nap or for the night.

A few other positive points:
-There is nothing for children to climb on as the bars are vertical
-There is a slight sloped piece of plastic in the doorway of the gate on either side--this helps to prevent both tripping and stubbing little toes
-The gate locks at the top and the bottom to provide a very sturdy door when closed
-Pressure mounting has proven to be very sturdy as my son has tried to shake and hit the gate for 3 months now and it has not budged
-The gate opens in both directions; perfect for use on a bedroom

Things to consider:
-The foot pedal was a little squeaky from day one
-The gate door can swing open into the bedroom door or wall b/c it has such a wide range of movement

Overall, I really like this gate. I found very few reviews that mentioned using the gate on a bedroom--I'm here to say that the Hands-Free Gate is the best for that purpose!
