The First Years Hands-Free Gate Broke and was rendered useless.

Date of Review:  Mar 3, 2002
The Bottom Line: Its really too bad that the foot pedal is not sturdy!
Review: We purchased the The First Years Hands-Free Gate for our home originally to keep our dogs contained to one area. I liked the idea of this gate because it was the only one that I found that was Hands Free with a walk thru feature. I'm short so...

The First Years Hands Free Gate is definitely hands free!

Date of Review:  Jul 2, 2007
The Bottom Line: Good hands free gate which seems to be quite sturdy.
Review: Hands free on something at least…every little bit helps!

We have a new puppy and a baby so it was finally time to get some baby gates in the house! Keeping both of the little ones out of the rest of the house is extremely important at...

Look Ma - No Hands!!

Date of Review:  Mar 22, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you need an easy-to-operate gate for a doorway - this is it. Keeps the wee ones where you want them - magically!
Review: We have a Houdini at our house! JB who will be two in April got her big girl bed last October. She was making holes in the walls when banging and sliding her crib around the room, so we gave in (gave up) and bought her a twin bed ? just like her big...

The Best Safety Gate Ever - No Hands Needed!

Date of Review:  Mar 29, 2004
The Bottom Line: This gate would be perfect for any doorway needing a safety gate.
Review: When our son started crawling before 6 months of age, we came to that second stage first time parents go through - finding out just how much in our house is absolutely not baby-proof. While we wanted him to have as much space to explore as possible,...

The Bottom Line: Wonderful gate! It will keep your child safe!
Review: Why we got this gate...
When my son started to crawl forward then we knew it was time to get those gates up. The problem was we only had one (Safety First Perfect Fit Gate) and we weren't all that happy with it. So my husband and I did some...

Could be the best baby gate ever.....

Date of Review:  Mar 23, 2002
The Bottom Line: If you buy this, I recommend trying it without the base on. It really has lasted us a lot longer with no base.
Review: About The First Years Hands-Free Gate

A very handy safety gate that is 100% hands free. It is very easy to install, you just put it in your door frame and adjust the knobs on the sides and wa-la. There is a nifty pedal at the bottom that...

The First Years Hands-Free Gate 3600- Great gate with one design flaw

Date of Review:  Oct 17, 2002
The Bottom Line: I would recommend this gate because it has served us well. They improved the foot pedal design and this may increase the lifetime of the product.
Review: Three years ago, as the birth of our first child swiftly approached, we started thinking about how we were going to make our house a baby safe home. For safety items around the house, I decided not to rely totally on the advice of our relatives. One...

Best customer support for a great gate (even when parts break)

Date of Review:  Apr 21, 2004
The Bottom Line: If it fits your doorway, spend the extra bucks for the convenience. Installed correctly it is great. No problem getting replacement for broken parts.
Review: I was going to just post this as a comment to other reviews, but was worried that folks who could use this gate would be scared off by reports of bum foot pedals. Ours did indeed break, but First Years replaced it for free with just a phone call to...

LOVE this gate!

Date of Review:  Apr 3, 2003
The Bottom Line: This is a great hands free gate. I highly recommend it as a secure and easy gate to use.
Review: I have not had the same experience with this gate as the other reviewers. We have been using this gate at the bottom of our stairs for almost a year and a half and the foot pedal has not broken. Just last week I had to adjust the tightness of the...

Strong and Sturdy Saves the Day

Date of Review:  Jul 18, 2002
The Bottom Line: Strong and steady gate that leaves no marks on doors, hallways, easy to assemble and unlimited adjustments. However, not for wide hallways or big openings. Well worth the price!
Review: Pros:
Steady and strong, NOT flimsy
Attractive ? white metal coated structure provides neutral home decor
Pressure-mounted screw structure allows for infinite adjustments
Easy assembly ? can install in less than five minutes
