Safe, relatively inconspicuous and easy-to-use gate

Pros: Easy installation, un-climb-able, blends in, easy to work, sturdy
Cons: Latch can be noisy when baby is sleeping, not widely available in stores
The Bottom Line: Keeping in mind you'll have a stairway gate a lot longer than you realize, it's important to get a good one. This is it!
Review: I absolutely love this gate. A girlfriend of mine has it, and after seeing it in action just one time at her house, I had to get it for our house. First of all, this is a hardware-mounted gate. That means you will have to drill holes into your wall to ...

Pros: Swing-through, permantent mounts, can be removed quickly for entertaining.
Cons: As others have mentioned, the clear panels can attract pet hair.
The Bottom Line: This gate has all the features any baby gate could have, can use them all without sacrificing another, and can be placed anywhere in the house. Strongly recommended.
Review: The All Clear swing gate is a two-paneled baby gate with a swing-through feature and can be mounted either permantently with the included hardware, or it can serve as a pressure-lock gate in situations where permanent mounting is either unnecessary or ...

Pros: Good price.
Easy to use. Light. Mobile. Attractive. Baby can see you easily. Cons: Takes up space.
Will not fit extra-large openings (only up to 42"). The Bottom Line: I recommend this gate because of its excellent value, ease of use, safety factor, and overall appearance.
Review: We just purchased this safety gate from Toys R Us; it was advertised in the flyer for $20 savings, so it was a great price at $40 (October 13, 2008).ALL of the safety gates boxes are unwieldy, so it took some maneuvering to fit it into my smaller ...

Pros: Baby Can't Climb This Gate, Sturdy, Easy To Install
Cons: Dogs Can Scratch Clear Panels
The Bottom Line: My Baby Hasn't Climb It Yet, So It Is Clearly A Winner!
Review: After purchasing a gate way before our son was even born I was sure I was out of the market. Unfortunately we have a very clever baby and I found myself looking for a different kind of gate. The first gate we had purchased was the ...

Pros: Convenient, easily installed, easy removal. Can view little ones on the opposite side.
Cons: Sliding handle release could be larger, less stiff.
The Bottom Line: Convenient, cleverly designed unit.
Review: I have two dogs and my fiance has two, when they get together they christen the house, if you get my drift. I had an old, portable Fisher Price gate, which was pressure released, and cumbersome. I've had to use this to contain the poopers in one ...

Pros: Best gate I could find!
Cons: A little difficult to clean within the panels
The Bottom Line: Wonderful product, especially if you want something that is safe for your kids/pets, and still looks good in your home.
Review: I was really happy to have found this gate. All the other gates that I had looked at gave me the feeling like I was imprisoning my kid. And quite honesty I always felt like the bar-style gates look tacky and cheap. I wanted something that I wouldn't ...

Pros: Without dogs it's fabulous.
Cons: Collects hair.
The Bottom Line: A gate that would keep children contained. It is not a gate that you can operate quickly and ensure it is locked. Collects hair/yuck between the 2 panels of plastic.
Review: We purchased this gate because I believe dogs and babies don't mix. I did not want my little one poking at the dogs through the gate so we purchased this little plastic number. The problem is there are two panes of plastic and it collects hair and ...
