Date of Review: Jul 8, 2004

The Bottom Line:  Alot funnier then any other show, and these DVDs are a must have even if your not a big fan of Family Guy.
You can't compare family guy to anything, it's just that funny. It far surpasses Simpsons, Futurama, and South Park. Even if these shows were combined, they couldn't make me pee my pants like Family Guy does. The show first started I think around 1999 and is now out on DVD. It was originally shown on FOX, were they kept changing the times and days it came on so I got lost. Eventually they canceled it, but I'm pretty sure that it may be broadcasted on FOX again with all knew episodes.

The Griffins
Seeing how I'm soo lazy you can read the character bios from my other Family Guy Review

The DVD
This package contains 4 Discs and 28 episodes of my favorite show ever. Four discs full of never ending laughs and I can't think of any other way to spend a few hours on a boring Saturday night to spend you time. Its around $50 but definitely worth the money. I also recommend the third season, which I also own.

When Stewie is placed in a foster home because Meg falsely claims that he's a crack baby in order to get bigger tips as a waitress, the neighborhood puts aside its differences to get him back.

DVD Special Features
There are a few special features on these DVDs. There are commentaries on selected episodes with series creator Seth MacFarlane, Executive Producer David Zuckerman, Writers and Cast Memebers. It also includes Internet Promo Spots, and behind-the-scenes Featurette. Also there are three different languages; English, Spanish and French, two in Dolby Surround Sound and the French is in Stereo. There are also subtitles for each language.

Rating
On the discs it says that the commentaries are rated R for language and stuff. Also there is quite a bit of swearing going on. If I had a kid I wouldn't want them to watch it, imitate it, then go around calling people names. Plus the shows are very controversial, well only some. I would only recommend this Dvd to those who are at least over 14, because kids shouldn't pick up swearing from a TV show, infact they shouldn't swear at all.

Visuals
When compared to the Simpsons I would have to say that Family guy wins visually. For one thing if you have ever watched Family Guy then the falling is much faster, like peter will fall through a table in a blink of an eye, and you'll be laughing before your brain even renders what just happened. The movement is very smooth and the characters are pretty well done.

Sounds
The voices are great. The sounds of smashing walls when peter drives trough them, The hilarious laugh of Peter, and Quagmire going heh, heh, all right, are all amazing and the voice acting is superb. Seth MacFarlane does the voices of like 8 characters on the show, ranger from Peter to Brian to Tom Tucker. The music is also good.

Overall
If your a fan of Family Guy then this DVD set is a must have. Not only for the episodes but also for the commentaries and special features. You can spend hours just watching Family Guy episodes. You can watch the whole disc or just pick your favorite episode and hit play. If you don't feel like buying the DVDs or you have never seen Family Guy before, then at least check out the show when ever you can. It's better then most of the stuff you see on TV, a very unique show with a very unique cast. It's just too funny for words.
