Author's Review
If you like suspense but are not thrilled by being scared, Dean Koontz ,Door to December is for you. He catches your attention right from the first page. You know most of the characters by the first few pages.
LAURA a wife and mother is married to an overbearing control freak husband. After a few years she decides to get a divorce.
Next thing she knows her husband and daughter are missing , disappered off the face of the earth. The husband is a scientist and should not be to hard to find but, nothing. In Dean Koontz books if there is a scientist, that should set of danger bells for the reader. so the suspense starts.
6 years later The mother is getting on with life but still believes her daughter is alive but is giving up hope of seeing her again. MELANIE ,the now nine year old daughter is found , wandering around naked only a few blocks from LAURA'S home., an here we go.
From here on you do not want to put the book down. things happen ,strange things, unexplainable things, slowly with the help of a private detective LAURA pieces things together the torture Melanie has gone thru at the hands of her father.
With all Dean Koontz books it sort of has a revenge factor , or the bad guy gets what he or they deserve. In this book they get theirs big time.
I do not want to give to much away but no one is going to pay for the crime done to the bad guys, and the crimes to the little girl is paid for in spades.
This is a good read suspensful , gets the heart racing, there is some funny times and you feel good at the end.
As with all good suspense books you have to believe the unbelievable and do not think too much about what happens now at the end.
