DooWop Box 2

This review is on Box 2 of the DooWop collection. As in my last review, I will tell you how many songs, how many I know and how many I like. These cd's have no particular name like in the first box only vol. 1, 2 etc.

CD one (1951-55)has 25 songs/10 I know/5 I like. I never heard of Chop Chop Boom Boom - Don Julian & Meadowlarks (but I have heard of the group) and Darling Dear - Counts and some others; some I like are: Smokey Joe's Cafe - Robins, I'll Be Forever Loving You - El Dorados and Hey Senorita - Penguins.

Cd two (1955-57) has 26/22/8. The ones I like are: Eddie My Love - Teen Queens, Guided Missiles - Cufflinks and Over the Mountain, Cross the Sea (yes, it is Cross and NOT Across) - Johnnie & Joe.

Cd three (1957-60) - 25/18/12. I like The Bells of Rosa Rita - Admirations, Believe Me - Royal Teens (this is one you seldom hear. Short Shorts is mostly played on the radio), Barbara - Temptations (not the black group but an earlier white group), and the ORIGINAL Love Potion #9 - Clovers.

Cd four (1960-63) - 25/18/13. My favorites on this one are: Once in Awhile - Chimes, Those Oldies But Goodies - Little Caesar & Romans, Heart and Soul - Cleftones and Pretty Little Angel Eyes - Curtis Lee & Dunes.

This book was different in that it has almost no chronological order as the volume one did but the articles are good reading. The pictures are excellent but some of them were already in volume one.

The music is fabulous even though I liked fewer songs here. This is still worth the money for true doowoppers.
