To be held in Crystal's thrall. . .

by   dreamcatcher39 ,  Jul 17, 2000
Pros: Great read, will keep you interested until the end
Cons: None
Review: Having read anything by Anne McCaffrey that I could get my hands on, I was greatly surprised to see a new series by her.

The series starts with this book. Killashandra Ree is a native of Fuerte, or as she calls it, Fusty Fuerte. When she is...

Perfect Pitch Required

by   abhaille ,  Dec 16, 1999
Pros: GREAT story, GREAT characters
Cons: None in my epinion
Review: How does a prima donna deal with failure? How about run away and join the Heptite Guild? Killashandra Ree only thinks she's a failure. Little does she know that her new adventure will truly change her for life.

Perfect pitch qualifies her,...

To Sing The Black Crystal

by   Ladypixel ,  Dec 7, 2002
Pros: Intriguing plot complications. Unusual worldview. Easy read, great for kids.
Cons: A little slack on character development on any other than the main character.
The Bottom Line: Great book for anyone who's looking for a good, easy read - or who's looking to branch out from Anne McCaffrey's other works. Excellent for younger audiences.

Pros: Interesting concept about the Crystal technology
Cons: Could have used much more character development
Review: Killashandra Rhee has worked all of her life to become a top rank singer. When her instructor informs her that despite her perfect pitch, the best she will ever be is a second rank singer because of a flaw in her voice, she quits. As she is pouting and...

Lovely, lyrical series

by   kiarrith ,  Jan 22, 2000
Pros: Wonderful first two books, interesting, fun character
Cons: Disappointing 3rd book...
Review: I highly recommend the whole series, though only with some reservations and a fair warning can I recommend the final book, Crystal Line. The first two books are alot of fun to read, just as the main character is fun, though she goes bed-hopping a tad too...

Hitting those High Notes

by   yknot ,  Mar 14, 2000
Pros: in-depth characters
Cons: can't put it down
Review: The first in a wonderful series ... Anne out does herself yet again ... Walk into a world of both science-fiction and fantasy combined. Rich full characters grab you from the very beginning. This wonderful page turner is one you just won't want to put...
