Author's Review

Langston Hughes is a great African American poet of all times. Through is works he addresses the themes of racial affirmation and pride, theme and variation of African American music, racial protest and unfullfilled dreams. He wrote When Sue Wears Red which addresses the theme of racial pride. AFrican American women were discouraged from wearing red but Hughes encouraged it. He also wrote Wear Blues which addresses the theme of variations in AFrican American music. He was a great poet of his time and was a very influential poet during the HArlem Rennaisance. Besides Hughes, Cullen, and Dunbar were also very influential during this time period.
