The Child, the Client

The Client, one of my favorite Grisham books. This was the first of his books I ever read and I have been hooked ever since. This is just a great book from start to finish.

This is the story of a boy and his brother who stumble onto a situation no child should ever have to face. They come across a man who is trying to kill himself. A lawyer to a very powerful mob man. This lawyer knows too much and is worried about his life. Rather then let the mob kill him he decides to do it himself. This would be fine if the boys had not run across him while he was trying to do this. This lawyer being very drunk sees the boys and this is were the story gets good. The mob gut that this lawyer represents has killed a government official. But no body has been found, so no one can be charged with murder. This lawyer ends up telling the boys where the body is. Then he kills himself.

The rest of the book is on the boy (The Client). He is very smart and some gets himself a lawyer. She is Ms. Love. A great character, who has her own past. She is trying to keep her client alive. This is because the mob finds out that this boy spent the last hour with the now dead lawyer. They fear that he knows something. At the same time the government thinks this boy knows something and is trying to get him to talk.

This is a page turner and I stayed up to finish reading it. I loved every page and have since reread it. There is a movie out, but it can't compare to the book. Take the time to read this book, and you will not be disappointed.
