The Client: Possibly the best book ever written

From the first sentence of "The Client" on, I was hooked. Who can resist an introduction with a ten year old boy smoking? Such a great beginning is nothing compared to the rest of the book. I honestly think this is the best book I've ever read, and cetainly the best of Gisham's books so far. I also enjoyed "The Rainmaker", though it wasn't as interesting.

I loved reading about Mark, and how mature and responsible he was. I wish my own son was more like Mark. The best aspect of the book was how realistic it was. Everything was well researched, and I felt as if I were going through the case first-hand.

"The Client" contained many twists and turns, and every page left em with suspense. I finished his 400-something page book in two days because I had to see what happened at the end. Usually it would've taken me a week or more to read this, especially with my busy schedule. However, I just couldn't put it down. I was always filled with strong emotions, whether it was joy and laughter as Foltrigg's lawyers were getting nailed, or sadness when Mark described his shaky life and his no-good wife-beating father. It was like a roller coaster; I went from tears of pain to tears of laughter in minutes. It was really a great book.

I must warn the prospective reader that this book contains very realistic and, at times, graphic descriptions of killings and beatings. I would not recommend this for young children to read. But, if you want a good book that will keep you thinking for a long time after you finish it, be sure to pick up a copy of "The Client" by John Grisham. It is not boring like most fiction involving law, and doesn't contain any confusing jargon.
