A Child Outwits the Mafia

by   luv_sunshine ,  Jun 16, 2001
Pros: Excellent plot & well-developed main characters
Cons: None
The Bottom Line: If you like suspense stories involving children and the mafia, then you will probably love this book!
Review: This is the first Grisham novel I have ever read and it won't be the last! I never thought that I would ever enjoy a mystery/suspense book. However, after watching the movie, I was compelled to read this book. Now, I plan to read Grisham's other...

my favorite - and I wait eagerly for the "next" Grisham

by   pansy4agirl ,  Jun 11, 2001
Pros: the way the story moves, the characters, and everything else
Cons: didn't particularly like the movie version
The Bottom Line: Grisham's finest, in my opinion, worth a 3rd and 4th read, and even a 5th!
Review: I have read (and re-read) all the Grisham books, sometimes thinking I wish I could call John Grisham, and say "Hurry up, will you? I finished that one in one day!" - Maybe I should wait to buy them, so that I will finish closer to the time that the next...

The Boy Who Knew To Much & The Book I Couldn't Put Down

by   KPetzold ,  Mar 20, 2000
Pros: Great Story with Edge of Your Seat Suspense
Cons: You won't be able to put it down
Review: I have to admit that I'm not a big reader. Sure, I pick up the occasional paperback every now and then, but I usually lose them before I finish reading them.. I guess I'm just to busy.

A friend of mine read this book and couldn't stop talking...

Among Grisham's Best

by   jeffo63 ,  Apr 20, 2002
Pros: Great characterizations; Grisham's descriptions paint a vivid picture; Hard to put down
Cons: Ending was hastily drawn up and did not tie all loose ends
The Bottom Line: Read it today and you will not be disappointed.
Review: I have read most of Grisham's books and 'The Client' rates right up there with his best works (including 'The Firm', 'A Time to Kill', and 'The Rainmaker').

Reggie Love and Mark Sway are two of the greatest characters that he has contrived....

You're Gonna Love Reggie Love

by   jsmorris ,  Feb 16, 2000
Pros: Reggie Love
Cons: Hope Reggie's in Another Book
Review: This is a great premise with a couple of minor flaws. In this tale, an eleven-year-old witnesses a suicide and hears a death bed confession as he watches the mob lawyer die. Now this kid just has to tell the Louisiana police what he knows and then...

The Child, the Client

by   tigger_r13 ,  May 14, 2000
Pros: Plot
Cons: None
Review: The Client, one of my favorite Grisham books. This was the first of his books I ever read and I have been hooked ever since. This is just a great book from start to finish.

This is the story of a boy and his brother who stumble onto a...

WISH SHE WAS MY LAWYER!

by   ReviewerGuy7 ,  Mar 15, 2000
Pros: Great story, solid character development
Cons: none, really
Review: This has to be the best of Grisham's four original novels. It has the most solid storyline, and it develops the characters more than any of his other four originals I've read. The writing style of this book is great, not just focusing on one...

The Client: Possibly the best book ever written

by   SmrtS ,  Jun 24, 2000
Pros: Great book, suspenseful and interesting
Cons: Possibly too realistic, graphic descriptions
Review: From the first sentence of "The Client" on, I was hooked. Who can resist an introduction with a ten year old boy smoking? Such a great beginning is nothing compared to the rest of the book. I honestly think this is the best book I've ever...

Best book I have read

by   Cursy ,  Jul 7, 2000
Pros: Non stop
Cons: non really
Review: Well two young boys witness a suicide, one goes into shock and the other has to deal with many hardships. The boy who isn't in a shock was told things, by the man who commits suicide, things that a young boy should not hear. Well the plot thickens as the...

What a way to start an appreciation of John Grisham

by   LBest ,  Apr 22, 2000
Pros: Very strong female character
Cons: Didn't find any
Review: I picked up The Client in an airport bookstore during an unplanned very long layover. I thought this would be a good time to see what all the fuss was about John Grisham. I had finished the book on that particular business trip. I just couldn't put...
