Fun on a rainy day
Pros:
Intelligent look at the classic fairy tale brothers without simply retelling one single story.
Cons:
Plot can get a little thick at moments, and can be hard to follow.
The Bottom Line:
A good movie to feed the imagination. I'd reccomend seeing it. You might be surprised.

Author's Review
I admit, I was very skeptical when my friend approached me about seeing this particular movie. I had heard so many mixed reviews about the movie that I had initially resided to waiting for it to come to video before seeing it. Now that I have seen it, I am actually very glad that I went.
No, the Brother's Grimm, is not the "movie of the year" or anything like that, but it is a fun little film none the less.
Let me start with the cast. Both Heathe Ledger and Matt Damon worked well together. Portraying the Grimm brothers, the duo had an on screen chemistry which worked perfectly for the brotherly feel.
While the movie does not hold true to the Grimm Fairy tales themselves, it does carry that dark undertone each one is so familiar too. It is not by any means a children's movie. There are far to many spooky, uncomfortable moments which outweigh the more lighthearted moments.
The movie itself, doesnt follow one particular Grimm tale, instead, its more of a collage. Portraying themselves as the "Brother's Grimm", a rag tag band of scam artists who hunt fake ghosts in extange for money, their schemes soon take a sharp turn when real goblins and enchantments begin stealing away the children of Mar Baden. Arrested by a very stereotypical french army and over the top Italian, they are forced to clear their name by tracking down the missing children.
It is in this that you see where the inspiration for the original tales might have been drawn from. The queen, played my Monica Belucci, mirrors both the story of Rappunzel and the evil queen of Snow White. Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Little Red Riding hood, and so many more are more of a passing reference.
All in all, it was a cute little story. Not the best, but worth a look.
