A delightfully modern romance.

by   kira002 ,  Mar 10, 2003
Pros: Fun, fast and fluffy
Cons: The format itself means the ending is a bit of a let-down.
The Bottom Line: I highly recommend this one. It's simply delightful and the format adds a nifty twist!
Review: So I'm getting ready to fly down to Florida for a few days to visit a friend and mention to another friend that I need something to read. "Oh, you have to borrow this book!" she says, thrusting The Boy Next Door into my hands. I peruse the front...

Surprisingly Great Read

by   alykat1352 ,  Apr 10, 2004
Pros: It was a mixture of romance, mystery, crime and humor. I couldn't stop reading.
Cons: It lagged a little at times, but picked the pace right back up. Thats it!
Review: I am a big fan of most of the books written by Meg Cabot, and liked this one in particular. It was an interesting way to write a book though- completely in e-mail? I thought that it would be hard to get the whole view on what was going on from a computer ...

The Boy Next Door: An All-Email Gossipfest

by   GravityGirl ,  Nov 20, 2002
Pros: Unusual format and interesting characters
Cons: Story tends to drag at times
The Bottom Line: The Boy Next Door offers something for everyone- humor, mystery, romance, salicious gossip and more!
Review: I have been a big fan of Patricia Cabot since I read her historical romance Educating Caroline a year ago. Since then, I have read all of her historical romances. While I have mixed feelings about her earlier novels, her last three are very good. When...

Who ever thought a book of emails could be so good?

by   goldmoon , top reviewer in Books at Epinions.com ,  Mar 10, 2003
Pros: The email format works surprisingly well, great characters, good plot.
Cons: Ending had a tad bit to be desired.
The Bottom Line: Read it, read it, read it!!
Review: It was a boring Thursday afternoon, I was all alone in the office, and I was thinking about what I would read that night (yes, this is the big thrill of my days, lately). My mind wandered to the huge stack of books I had waiting for me, one of them...

Discover The Boy Next Door

by   Ressey ,  Jun 20, 2005
Pros: A fun, light read, definitely different than most books
Cons: A few unrealistic details, a tad predictable
The Bottom Line: I would definitely recommend this book because it's fresh and different than the majority of the chick lit books out there.
Review: If you were to pick up The Boy Next Door and flip through it, you would immediately see that this is not your typical book. Straying from the norm, Meg Cabot has written the entire book in the form of emails. When I first heard about it, I ...
