Author's Review
The Birds is one of Alfred Hitchcock's most famous thrillers.
Melanie Daniels is a socialite with a habit of playing practical jokes and keeping her name in the headlines. She runs into Mitch Brenner, an attorney, while shopping in a San Francisco pet store. Even though Mitch recognizes her, he pretends that he doesn't and treats her as if she's a store clerk. When Melanie figures out what he's doing, it annoys her and possibly intrigues her, so she decides to play a trick of her own. She knew that Mitch wanted to buy
a pair of love birds for his sister Kathy's upcoming birthday. So she buys the birds herself and when she takes them to his apartment, she finds out from a neighbor that he is spending the weekend at his family's home in the small town of Bodega Bay. Not letting the opportunity pass her, she drives to Bodega Bay, takes a boat across the lake to his house so she isn't seen driving up, leaves the birds in house, gets back in the boat, and tries to slip
away. Before she can get out of sight, Mitch finds the birds and uses a pair of binoculars to spot her on the water. He jumps in his car to meet her on the other side and just as her boat is about to dock, out of nowhere, a gull swoops down and viciously pecks her forehead. And thus starts the terror of the birds..
This is a fantastic and very scary movie in which birds began to attack this small town and it's people. But why? That's the main question you'll be left with after seeing this movie. Why did the birds attack to begin with?
Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor, and Jessica Tandy are a few of the fantastic actors in the film.
This movie is done in lovely color, the special effects aren't as good as the effects available now but I think they're still very good, and the movie is approximately 120 minutes long.
