Author's Review
Nowadays every wrestling company wants to be called hardcore. Everyone wants to take what ECW created back in the early 90's and make it their own. But I do not think many wrestling companies will get as hardcore as backyard wrestling.
This DVD is the first of the Backyard Wrestling DVD series. Backyard wrestling is simply what it is named, wrestling in the backyard. It is hard to call "wrestling," though. It is more of very brutal fighting than anything else. Also, most backyard wrestlers are not experienced wrestlers, rather, crazy teens who want to be like all their wrestling idols. Fire, thumbtacks, jumping off roofs and barbed wire are all normal for them to use on eachother. Welcome to the backyard.
When you turn on this DVD you be greeted with a "don't try this at home" warning, which really doesn't make sense to put on a BACKYARD wrestling tape. Then some kid tells you about some of the things you will see in your intro to backyard wrestling, with frequent f-bombs. Then it goes straight to the action.
The action on this DVD is sent in from various backyard wrestling leagues from across the country. Pretty much everything on the tape is clipped too, not entire matches. It sounds like a rip-off but it works well on this tape.
This video is jam-packed with violence. You will undoubtedly see some of the most shocking things you have ever seen. People jumping off roofs onto eachother, breaking eachother through flaming tables, getting hit by cars; you name something violent, it's probably on here.
The DVD isn't just violence though, it is very funny in a sick kind of way. You'll probably find yourself laughing at "THE EPIC BATTLE," a long fight between two kids with inspirational music in the background and some funny commentary. Some of the promos the kids on this tape do are funny also. And honestly, when you see a guy rolling around on fire and his friends getting a kick out of it, you'll probably laugh at the stupidness. Not everyone will find backyard wrestling humorous, but I sure though it was.
Overall I think this is a great DVD, there really aren't cons to it if you are into hardcore non-stop action. However, if you look down on violent movies you will almost definitely hate this.
