Movie Inspired

From the opening track to the concluding song, this soundtrack serves as a constant reminder and companion to the movie. In this day and time of "music inspired by the movie", the soundtrack actually serves as a secondary medium in which the listener can either relive the movie or become inspired to see the movie.

Out of the 14 tracks on the CD, only two do not appear in the actual movie. The fact alone that the music on the CD was in the movie was a welcome refresher to a music and movie lover like myself.

Too often today we go see a movie, be pulled into the action /drama of the movie by the scores only to left holding a $15-20 CD that does not contain 1 song from the movie. "Music inspired by the movie"-I don't think so!! The music seems to have nothing to do with the original premise of the movie.

The Best Man- Original Soundtrack is a welcome return to the soundtrack of old. Every song pertained to a pivotal point in the movie.
The CD Plays like the way we were taught to write speeches. It opens by telling us what the body is going to say, then says(sings) it, and the final song sums up the turmoil encompassed in the entire CD.

Also, there are songs that correspond to the personalities of characters in the movie. The most evident being Track #6- Best Friend by Faith Evans which simply explains the driving forces that lead Mia to sleep with Lance's best friend. This is the basic reason why any woman would sleep with her man's best friend, if she is not a dog to begin with. The final song takes a candid try at explaining the quirks behind the male personalities in the movie and does a great job.

It takes a woman deep into understanding how men think and operate. I was extremely shocked by the precision, compassion, understanding, but most of all-HEART that went into this CD.
