How many of your have been driving and you hear a song and think, "Man, I really love that song! I need to go buy that." ? Well i did that to the song "The Best Man I Can Be". That song just spoke to me. When i realized it was on "The Best Man" soundtrack, and then heard another song off the soundtrack ("Turn Your Lights Down Low) I had to buy it. Both tracks are superb! The album follows the theme of love and pain. I kinda get an idea of what the movie was about (seeing that i didn't make it to the theatres in time). There's 14 songs on the album and all but one works with the CD.. which is great odds when usually the average person buys an album and maybe only really like 75-80% of the album. I like 98% of this one. All except the Sporty Thieves track called "Hit it Up". This song wasn't featured in the Film.. so why in the hell did someone bother to put it on the Soundtrack.. it's a horrible song that rehashes their other hideous song "no Pigeons". As for the rest of the album, it's filled with R & B treasures... Soul music to the hilt! Favorites are both Maxwell tunes "Let's Not Play the Game" and "As My Girl", Eric Benet's " Poetry Girl", Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley's " Turn the Lights Down Low", Me'Shell Ndegeocello's "Untitled", and the Finale of the Soundtrack .... Ginuwine, R.L. (From the group NEXT), Tyrese, and Case Performing "The Best Man I Can Be". All the other songs that surround my favorites (excluding Sporty Thieves) add to the overall feel of the film and soundtrack. The songs simulate the ups and downs of a relationship. And i'll just add this final note... we FINALLY have a song that isn't a put down to men.
